    Hi all,

I'm a totally newbie to trading,

Been dropping my toes in and out for a while,

Lately I have been trying a different strategy, I look for stocks that are around 27% up or down and 1hr before the market closes I either buy or sell then close my position just before the closes, most stocks that are up over 25% pull back a bit before the close and the same with stocks that are considerably down they always claw back a bit. the few times I have down it has been profitable but could doing this be profitable long term? Has anyone tried it?

    Thanks

Without looking at fundamentals and news this is just a gamble. Specially in the very high volatile market that we're in today.
A mid/large cap is unlikely to jump up 27% intraday. So your screener would get small caps and most of them have even higher volatility/low volume.
So this might work for a while. But you're risking more than you're gaining IMO
