FirstEnergy Corp. (FE) is a holding company. The Company operates through three segments: Regulated Distribution, Regulated Transmission and Competitive Energy Services (CES). The Regulated Distribution segment distributes electricity through its approximately 10 utility operating companies. The Regulated Transmission segment transmits electricity through transmission facilities. The CES segment primarily supplies electricity to end use customers through retail and wholesale arrangements. The Company and its subsidiaries are involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. Its approximately 10 utility operating companies comprise investor-owned electric systems, serving over six million customers in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. Its generation subsidiaries control approximately 17,000 megawatts of capacity from a diverse mix of non-emitting nuclear, scrubbed coal, natural gas, hydroelectric and other renewables.
