Hi, my name is Andrew, and I'm here with something a little bit different. My experience in investing is small, so I've come to you all here in search of individuals helping to expand my knowledge on a small segment of investing though the use of financial statements.

I'm a 23 y/o accountant currently getting my Master's on the side, and need to finish up a thesis. My focus for the field is in finance and investments, and decided to keep my thesis focused on topics within that field. I'll be giving more information in another thread I'll throw up in the cocktail lounge, since I feel that even though it's focused on investing, it's still a bit off topic for the board's usual functions. If you have any history in investing, though, and feel like taking a couple minutes for a really quick survey, check it out here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfuasNiGkIqop1YAiKfo_Cp1JbzzL7UagGpJJ02hc-_zmySpg/viewform

Welcome Andrew and as you are an account you should have no problem with the money management end of investing/trading.
Survey, I don't think so but I wish you a fruitful stay.

Hi Andrew. Welcome to the forums. I am a believer in fundamental analysis as part of my decision making so I do spend some time on reviewing balance sheets and income statements both annual and quarterly to gain a sense of how a company is doing. I'm far from an accountant but I did take 2 semesters of accounting in college so I have a basic understanding. The real trick with using this data in stock investing is trying to take the data of past performance and project it into likely future performance as that is what drives the stock price. That involves trying to get a sense of the company's moat and competitive advantages going forward. Have not quite got that down to a science yet :D

I never like when I get asked personal/private questions especially in internet and isn't very clear to me why you doing the survey:confused::confused:
I could fill how-whatever I like with.. so are those survey really good-informative?:D

    good luck anyway :)
