Hi, Do you think the Gamestop ride hurt us regular non-Gamestop investors this week? I had 2 or 3 days this week when almost every position I had dropped and dropped quite a bit. As I understand it, short sellers had to dump some of their long positions in order to cover their short positions. Did that dump of long positions account for the serious drops this week by increasing the supply? If so than maybe I don't need to beat myself up for only growing my portfolio 2% this month.
The market is a bit toppy already, so some downside is not unusual. There was an article that speculated the selling in some tech could be hedge funds building up cash positions because of their short exposure to stocks like GME, AMC, NOK etc So its possible.
