Yesterday, I was connected to wifi in the Taipei subway and thought I'd check what's going on at Stockaholics. It told me my IP address has been banned. Imagine my outrage and anger? I'm pretty sure WXYZ is behind this.

Fortunately, things are working fine from my SIM and other access points.

Best wishes to my friends at Stockaholics. May the markets bless you like a large bowl of wonton soup for $2.

    Well done!
How is to live in Taipei? Cool? Do you feel the need to watch the sky every morning, looking for strange "birds"?

    Since you bring it up...

The locals are anxious about Chinese military pressure. I spoke to a couple of locals about it at the extremely not gay hot spring (not that there's anything wrong with that) and they asked me to pray for them. Its hard to have a nice life when you're worried about some xi-hole dropping bombs on you.

Taiwan is a beautiful country with beautiful people. The regard they have for each other is humbling. The first time I lifted my camera to snap a pic and people hurried to get out of the frame, I realized I wasn't in north america, anymore. (To be fair, they also do that in Japan and Singapore: two more beautiful countries)

I desperately hope Taiwan can remain peaceful and free of fascism.

Hasn't that always been the case or is it more so now because of the current geo-political situation?

I think the conscription they brought in 10 days ago (all males 18-36yo who are not fat) and the change of political tone after the sovergnist was elected in December made things real.

Taiwan is an extremely peaceful nation. The only chance they have is if America defends them. Still, they are doing what they can on their own.

I think it will be a just a question of time (and oportunity) for People's Republic of China to make their move.
Putin move in 2020 was a good driver for them, and also enabled them to see what type of response western allies will give (not the best one obviously).

What does China have to gain from invading Taiwan?

Sounds like a giant financial sink.

I dont think there is a logical, economical or fiantial reasononing for it.
Its a logic distant from our way of thinking. For them one justification may be as simple as "one China" principle. Other can be Tom vision, besides China consider Taiwan as part of their garden they a expansion view of Pacific area, so Taiwan is a starting point.

I feel the economic risks are too large for them right now. They like to keep threatening though!
