In the 1980s, when we decided to eliminate all of our manufacturing jobs and send them to China as a form of charity, just about everyone was horrified. I lived it and don't recall a single person who thought it was an acceptable idea. It was on everyone's mind, discussed a lot, and caused us to hate the government. If you recall the situation differently, please share. Unfortunately, a small group of people wanted to lift China out of poverty at our expense and it was so. The people who did the best are the people who did business with China early on. Most of the arbitrage is gone by now. I believe India is the new China. If you have a product or service that can be performed in India, you would probably be well advised to move that production to tiger country. Sure, you will be part of the destruction of North America but there is 100% chance it will happen with or without you. This video is a wonderful look at doing small scale manufacturing in India. Particularly the investment discussion starting at 14:30 is golden.
