    Hello guys

I googled my eyes out this week trying to find a backtesting software or website.

    What I look for:

    - Equities backtesting software
    - Quality data last 10-20 years
    - Daily/Weekly/Monthly data is enough
    - US Equities is enough

    Software:

    - I want to backtest an idea
    - I want to have 2-3 indexes AND 30 tickers
    - Play bar by bar and when it meets criteria place a stock or options trade and continue playing bar by bar.
    - Play data by bar by bar so that when 1 bar moves it happens on all charts
    - Trade stocks and if possible via options (should be good data for it)

P.S. moving bar by bar on some charting platform does not work for my purposes.

I know this is very old school approach. But that's how I operate. Could not find anything online. I can pay for it as long as I don't need to sell my cats to cover the costs.

Mostly backtesting what I found is quant stuff.

If anyone knows such tools - please do drop here an answer. I would very much appreciate it.

    THANK YOU!!!
    Archibald

Hmm the sites I used to use are all gone, this does seem to be a problem!

    Hi StockJock-e

Thank for your message. It is odd a bit.. cannot find software to do either. I figure so many traders, afficianados etc. Such tools are fundamental to develop an edge and skill.

    Anyone else have any clues?

    Best

I hope I am not too late in answering this question and may be the answer is still relevant to you.
I can tell you one tool that I have created, it is called Stockalyze and you can download for free from stockalyze.com. Stockalyze has exact same feature that you are asking for. It has many other features too. Features that are available for free are limited but are good enough to evaluate if you want to pay for enhanced functionality. Give it a try and let me know if it is what you are looking for.
