    Hello
I am new to the stock market, actually not even invested. Just using simulators to get the hang of investing. A quick question i couldnt yield the answer to after a brief search. Hypothetically speaking, if someone gave me X amount of money to invest in stock for short gains, and I have 0 annual income, would i report the X amount as annual income when I sell the stock even though I will be returning the loaned money and retaining the profit?

Yes, you will get taxed on short term gains is if it was regular income.
