Not a favored industry. For personal reasons, a lot of people don't want to invest. Occupancy is down, which hurts overall income. Yet, the only reason the industry exist, is because government funds it. Is there a path to profit? I see that they also operate more than just prisons. Halfway houses. Ankle GPS systems. Also the education and vocational programs. If you dig deeper, there's literally 100+ revenue streams associated with the private prisons, that are all profitable. Uniforms for the guards. Janitorial supplies. Vendors supply every pencil, to every tomato, to every cup to pee in. Then you have concessions like prison commissary and pay phones. Somebody owns all the buses and vans, then leases the whole fleet to the prison company. Social workers, counselors, clergy ...... I want to open up my own jail.
