https://www.starlink.com/ Let me be the first to post about a new company that will change the world. (Mods, this is premature, but when it happens, please move this thread to the appropriate category) Elon has tweeted. So it is Written, So it Shall be Done. StarLink will be brought public as soon as it achieves stability profits. He also tweets, he loves the retail investor. Can't wait, I already want in.
Just curious to why? I look at this SpaceX division as a high potential stock. The military has already weighed in as they love it in preliminary tests. Plus the overall scope of coverage this service will offer. Plus their capex will be mostly spent before they go public with the sats in place. Pending any unforeseen circumstances, I find myself desiring being in.
https://ca.reuters.com/article/spac...o-for-spacexs-starlink-business-idUSKBN26K068 (Reuters) - Tesla Inc Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk plans to list SpaceX’s space internet venture, Starlink, several years in the future when revenue growth is smooth and predictable. "Public market does *not* like erratic cash flow haha," the billionaire entrepreneur tweeted here on Monday. Musk said last year that Starlink was an important new revenue stream for his California-based Space Exploration Technologies, or SpaceX. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell in February floated the idea of spinning Starlink off for an IPO in the coming years. SpaceX is racing to build out its Starlink satellite constellation to offer broadband internet commercially by the end of 2020. Musk, in his tweet, also said he is a “huge fan” of small retail investors and will ensure they get top priority.
Should be soon. What about other companies' projects for offering internet? I may be getting my projects mixed up. Is Facebook still sending out balloons to provide internet in third world counties? Does Amazon have a project for a satellite system too? Google? Is Fiber another Google Non-Starter? If you don't have it now, you'll never get it?
I think Google Fiber is being put on the shelf. Amazon wants to also, but they are still working on having a rocket they can use. Meanwhile, SpaceX just keeps shooting up 60 satellites at a time a couple times a month on a rocket platform that has demonstrated cost effective consistent and reliable reusable rockets. Every month puts any potential competitors further and further behind. Has anyone here yet to actually see the starlink chain fly over their house yet? I have and it was amazing for the few seconds it was visible to the naked eye. HEY!! Quit staring at my naked eye you digital pervs!
