    Hi,

I am new to the stock market and am eager to educate myself on the topic as much as possible.

I've tried reading some books on the stock market but mostly found they were either too short and just gave me a brief overview on the subject, or too advanced and written for people who already understand trading.

Frustrated by this, I thought it might be a good idea to try to get a proper textbook like the kind students use in university. I thought maybe this way I can get myself a full education without having to attend business school to get an MBA or something like that. Not that I wouldn't like that, it's just not feasible for me right now.

I was looking over some textbooks and found that the titles are very generalized like: Corporate Finance, Accounting, Investment Management, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, etc. I didn't see a book that explicitly says Stock Market, and I don't know which one will teach me what I want to know, which is basically all that jargon I hear the experts discussing so fluently on the business channels. Terms like bonds, mutual bonds, etf, derivatives, ipo, and the different types of exchanges and banks and how they all interact.

So I signed up here because I assume many of you went to business school and are familiar with the educational side of things. So I was wondering if some of you can recommend specific names of books that you think will teach me what I need to know. Perhaps even books you studied at school that you thought were helpful in making you the knowledgeable traders you are.

Ideally they should be suitable for beginners with no prior knowledge of the subject.

    I truly appreciate your advice,
Hope my post wasn't too long,

    Best regards, Aaron

The first book i read was rule #1 investor. I liked it because it took me from zero understanding of the market to understanding the fundamentals.

i would caution you that he mentions swing trading. I personally think that is a way to lose wealth. But the fundementals for a novice are on point.
