it looks like the chip shortages will be over by the end of 2023

Not sure where to put this so Off Topic it is...

I've been pessimistic on supply chain issues. They were supposed to be over by 21H2.

It does look like orders for the lower eschelon parts will start being filled in early 2023. Things should be back to normal in about a year.

Given the economy depends so much on integrated circuits, I suspect the recession recovery ought to start next summer.

I still believe the darkest hour will be February so it looks like perhaps a 6 month bottom of the recession.

The above is a wild guess.

My conspiracy theory is that the "chip shortage" is not as bad as it is made to be. I believe companies are enjoying selling things for more money and though the shortage was real at first, is exaggerated now so they can continue selling everything at 30% markups or whatever. Part of my conspiracy theory brain.

    I share your view.

China certainly didn't seem to be in a rush to man the assembly lines until the peasants made rumblings of storming the castle.

It looks like integrated circuits will be flowing again by early summer of this year, or so. Already, the severe backlogs are mostly a thing of the past.

China lifting Zero COVID was a big deal to the planet. Now we know how susceptible we are to a single megalomaniac when we build our economy on a single source.

Don't know how I missed this. Mr. Huang is the one you want to direct your eggs and tomatoes at. Gone are the days of flagship GPUs being reasonably priced. The more money than brains population has proven itself to be profitable at volume.

Over a grand? Count me out.

    How about Russia or Syria?

The most important thing seems to be to create a dependency on someone who hates us.
