Bounced off support and oversold territory, was hoping for another day of consolidation to add on, but oh well. I'll take a gainer any day of the week!
When was the last time we ever saw AMD get this much excitement from high end gamers? AMD was always the cheaper, budget option. This are exciting times.
Doubled down and bought 200 more at 12.45. Appears like it is finding support at a higher level. Volume is coming in light mid-day---> the supply of stock for sale is dried up. Daily at about 12:25 CDT
Dropped through support today but still held the 200MA. Hoping to see a rebound tomorrow. I added on today at $11.97.
Remember when this was @ 15 and everybody hoped they had bought shares @ 12. Don't miss this chance. We're going 14+ before next ER.
I'm not sure if this is an appropriate place to post, but I wanted to update you all on tiptoptrader and hopefully ask a question. I'm not sure how much personal info he shared here, but he lost his fight with stomach cancer earlier this month. I am his eldest daughter and my sister and I are feeling rather clueless as to how to proceed with our inherited shares of AMD. His other holdings were primarily long-term holds, but AMD was his favorite for taking profits. Does anyone know if he considered this a long term hold or was looking at a target price? I tried to read through this enormous thread, but honestly, it is just too painful to even read his words right now.
Wow, this is the saddest thing I've heard recently TTT was an inspiration to me and his departure was extremely sad. I was unaware that he had stomach cancer, but knew he was having some health problems. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, if there is anything we can do to help you here, please feel free to let us know. A lot of us benefited from him, and I'm sure there are plenty who would be willing to help out if there's anything we can do. Again, greatly sorry for your loss and thank you for letting us all know what happened. In terms of your questions, I followed very closely every pick that TTT posted on this site, and there were others as well. AMD was one that he was much more of a profit-taker on. It seemed to me like he was playing it more by ear than the rest of his holdings, however. I'd expect that right now he'd have a target around $18 in the mid-term, meaning he'd probably take some profits at $15 (the most recent high area), and plan on taking a lot more off the table at $18. He would regularly buy the big dips and then take profits as he'd set new targets. AMD has been doing a lot of great things and coming out with some great products, I expect them to continue to take market share from NVDA and INTL and to be a great investment for the next few years. However, if you're not familiar with the market (unsure of your background), I'd personally try to avoid more volatile stocks like this one and take profits around $15 which it has struggled to break through the last few times it has made it up there. If you have any other questions about how he traded some of his other stocks, feel free to ask wherever and you'll be able to get opinions of a few who watched a lot of TTT's threads, or you can private message me and I can try to let you know at least how he posted on here. I'm sure you can find his opinions on a few of them in the shorter threads than this one. Don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions. Sorry again for your loss, I hope your family is doing OK
I was just notified... Im in a bit of shock at the moment! First of all, thank you very much for signing on and sharing this news with us. TTT had taken some time off a while ago, he shared some details with a few of us, but we had no idea it was that bad. Please accept our condolences. I first met him years ago... almost a decade I think. When this forum started up, he became active again and was one of our most active and informative traders. We all loved and respected him. He was a regular poster here, we all knew that any time we had a question about casino and gaming stocks, TTT was our man! He will be sorely missed, I know the lessons he taught many here will carry forward for years to come!
I am so sorry for your loss and i will definitely put some prayers up there for you and your family. Your father was a very nice and giving man and his presence here has been and will continue to be missed!!
Your father was a hell of a man. He helped me out on numerous occasions and was very generous with his time and knowledge. So sorry about your loss. From what I can remember, it seemed to me that your father liked AMD as a long-term play, he liked to flip some of his shares on spikes but pretty sure he had a nice amount of shares that he considered long term investments.
Devastating news here. I am flat out stunned to hear of this. I really have no words... My condolences goes out to his family. @Tiptopptrader (Rich) and I go waaaaaaaaaay back from when this community was formerly known as HSM (HotstockMarket). I was so excited when he returned to the community here right about when HSM had moved into Stockaholics early last year after about 5 year hiatus before that. I had no idea TTT's health was serious. I know he had left this forum back in February to take some time away. But, never knew it was because of his health. Just flat out shocking to hear of this right now. I had gotten the alert about this on my phone late last night, but I was so stunned by the news I wasn't quite sure how to come on here and respond. Rich will be hugely (and I do mean HUGELY) missed around here. Truth be told here -- I was actually thinking of Rich recently and hoping maybe he would be making a return to the forums again soon...but now to hear of this news I don't even know what to think. It's just really depresssing. Rich was about the most perfect example of a really great trader IMHO. I have been at this community for 11 years now and have still yet to find anyone quite like Rich. His success, and knowledge of the markets was simply amazing. And he was always willing to share his knowledge and help others out in need. A lot of this community's success in the beginning was IMHO a result of Rich. R.I.P. Rich. You're no longer with us anymore, but your memories at this community will live on forever! @noxqs thank you for informing us of this news...albeit quite crushing for me personally as I had gotten to know Rich since my early days of being at this community going all the way back to 2006. I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family here.
Another good start to the day for AMD. Bounced off the 200MA earlier this week and above above the 50MA and upper BB now.
So sorry to hear about Rich (TTT). I did not know him well but I do know the great respect he received here. I just learned as I just got out of the hospital again for the 2nd time in 3 months trying to save my leg. Rich was fighting to save his life; a battle that we all will lose one day. Having to battle with cancer, as Rich did, took tremendous courage and endurance, I'm sure, and for that he has my upmost respect....and of course because he loved the game...he was one of us.
