The trading was more normalized this morning in pre-market. Now AMD is trading ahead of the market on strong volume.

AMD Radeon Pro Duo grabs top graphics spot for now
AMD's Radeon Pro Duo is here. On Tuesday morning, the company formally unwrapped its much-anticipated and highly delayed dual-GPU card, giving it—at least for now—the fastest graphics card on the planet.

With an asking price of $1,500—making it the most expensive modern consumer video card for gaming—it had better be fast. AMD claims a 1.5X performance advantage over a $1,000 GeForce GTX Titan X card.

Why this matters: Gamers and PC enthusiasts are always looking for the next big thing to brag about, and the Radeon Pro Duo certainly qualifies. How long that will last remains to be seen, in light of Nvidia's reveal of its monster Pascal GPU earlier in April.

The shorts were coming out of the wood work at 3.71~3.72. As I type AMD just broke that resistance and now up 8.41% @ 3.74

Trading seem to have normalized today as AMD was moving with the market. The shorts were in full force again but could not stop AMD from closing up 6.09% @3.66 with a HOD of 3.75. Today was the 2nd leg up and from the chart I posted on my top picks thread. My target price is 4.40 for the near term.

From my trading screen it appears that the shorts have retreated but I am sure they will be back to play another day. AMD is tethering right now at no change to - .01 with the markets down. A little breather and it should be business as usual

    Current price is $3.66

With the shorts retreating it is business as usual for the trending AMD even when techs and the market were down.. Right now there is big resistance at 3.74. I bought the May 20th $4 calls on the dip this morning.

AMD news points to three new gaming consoles
News of new consoles is in the air. The Nintendo NX is imminent, and a PlayStation upgrade is all but guaranteed. Microsoft is said to be testing prototypes. Now word from AMD is starting to solidify some of that.

During a financial call, AMD CEO Lisa Su talked about three big “design wins” set to pull $1.5 billion in for the company in the next few years. Right now, while Intel owns the vast majority of the PC market, AMD has a total monopoly on consoles. They make the chips in the PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox One, and have dropped hints that they’re to be providing the chip for Nintendo’s NX as well. It’s unlikely we’d see a shift at this point for Sony or Microsoft, but a “design win” would be referring to a new custom chip – just the kind of thing a next-gen console would use.

AMD is priming for a gap up as Futures is mounting to add pressure to the markets again.

No problem Ciao and thanks for the PR

AMD and Nantong Fujitsu Microelectronics Co., Ltd. Close on Semiconductor Assembly and Test Joint Venture
NFME and AMD Close $436M Transaction and Launch New JV to Expand the Customer Base for AMD's World-Class Suzhou and Penang Assembly and Test Facilities

NFME's affiliates have purchased an 85 percent share of AMD's Penang, Malaysia and Suzhou, China ATMP operations and act as controlling partner for the new joint venture business.
AMD received from NFME approximately $371 million, excluding purchase price adjustments, with net cash proceeds of approximately $320 million after payment of taxes and other customary expenses. AMD retains a 15 percent ownership of the Penang and Suzhou operations.
The transaction is expected to be cost neutral to AMD's P&L while significantly reducing AMD's capital expenditures. AMD will account for its 15 percent ownership stake in the joint venture and its results of operations under the equity method of accounting.
Approximately 1,700 AMD employees transitioned to the joint venture.
J.P. Morgan Securities LLC served as exclusive financial advisor to AMD, and provided a fairness opinion to the board of directors of AMD.

Considering the second brutal markets we have had in the last 2 days I think AMD fared fairly well dropping 1.66% today to close at 3.55. AMD was actually up for awhile with a HOD of 3.69 before the markets applied pressure. In comparison the Semiconductor sector, INTC (-2.67%) and NVDA (-1.85%) were down as well.

Looking at this chart AMD crossed over the trend of the Nasdaq and INTC the first part of March. Note that INTC started under performing the Nasdaq at end of March. The chart tells a story and that story was was there was something positive taking place for AMD and not so much for INTC.

    Article here: http://www.techtimes.com/articles/152402/20160422/amd-gpu-roadmap-for-2016-2018-what-to-expect.htm
If the execute as planned AMD should maintain a good growth prospect for the next few years...

AMD recently took part in the Game Developers Conference and it used its stage time to tease a GPU roadmap for the next two years.
    upload_2016-5-1_12-40-3.png
The company updated the timeline and now graphics processor enthusiasts have a clearer image of AMD's upcoming releases. Until 2018, at least.

Even though 2016 might be the year for Polaris, there is much hype building for 2017, as well. This is because next year the company will start implementing HBM2 on their next-generation graphics chips, which will be branded Vega architecture.

With the introduction of the HBM2 on the upcoming Vega chips, AMD delivers not only great amounts of super-fast memory, but an improved architecture as well.

Subsequently, AMD aims to move from Vega to Navi in 2018. The manufacturer touts that a "NextGen Memory" will come packed in the Navi GPUs.

Looking deeper into the new Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 GPUs, we find fourth-gen GCN cores that make use of HEVC encode/decode abilities. The long expected HDMI 2.0 capabilities are part of the menu, aside the DP1.3. One notable mention for the Polaris GPUs is that they rely on the novel 14 nm FinFET process, granting significant increases in processing speed.

For the 2016 column, we notice that both Polaris 10 and Polaris 11 share 50 percent of the year, meaning that AMD focuses more on the two GPUs than on the Fury range which sports HBM1.

The Radeon R9 480 and the Radeon R9 490 are bound to get the Polaris 10, while the Polaris 11 is set to land on entry-level and mid-level graphics cards. Based on this tidbit of information, we might conclude that AMD's Radeon 400 series will most likely pack 14nm chipsets.

Earlier this year, a tantalizing leak featuring an image of the Fury X2, the dual Fiji graphics board, reached the media. Techies who closely watch the GPU market should know that dual Fiji GPUs are not yet available for purchase, but they will be before the end of the year.

Doing a little comparison between the pop yesterday and the drop today here is what I have

Rally yesterday: AMD was up 5.35% to close @3.74 on 16,943,900 shares traded
    Meltdown today:
AMD was down 3.61% to close @3.61 on 11,292,144 shares traded

I consider this a positive for AMD we just don't want to many meltdowns
