Here is some koolaid to drink for AMD. http://www.investorguide.com/article/20192/amd-proved-bears-wrong-outperformed-nvidia/ An excerpt from the article: The main reason behind the company’s amazing success is the release of its new graphics card Radeon RX 480 which is based on Polaris architecture. This new architecture comprises new major upgrades such as the use of 14 nm technology. RX 480 is available in the market for just $199, and is designed to appeal to mainstream users. However, AMD has played it smart by launching an efficient graphics card at very less amount. It is clear to everyone that NVIDIA (NVDA) is AMD’s only rival and has been outperforming it for years. NVIDIA has also launched some new graphics cards, but initially, it only launched high-end graphics cards, thereby leaving the gate open for AMD to gain market share. At present stage, NVIDIA’s GTX 1060 accounts for the primary rival of RX 480, but is priced greater than Rx 480. NVIDIA currently holds around 75% market share, but AMD’s RX 480 will certainly help the company steal some market share from NVIDIA considering the strong quarter reported by the company. Furthermore, AMD is on its way to launch some more graphics cards, and will soon launch a graphics card specifically for high-end users which will directly compete with NVIDIA’s GTX 1080 card. If the company successfully launches an efficient high-end graphics card that performs better than GTX 1080 and priced less as compared to NVIDIA’s GTX 1080, this will surely snatch a lot of market share from NVIDIA. Conclusion AMD has played it really smart and it looks like the company is headed in the right direction under the leadership of their new CEO. With the company expected to launch new high-end graphics card soon, the stock could continue moving higher at NVIDIA’s cost.

Good stuff @leonx81 and most likely the institutional ownership has increased since the last ER. Even these trades near the EOD of AH are at the ask. (I verified in L2 sales log). That is $47,952 and too late in the day even for a high rolling day trader(s). Back further last week in this thread there are a few things happening this week that could turn into a driver (will see)

As the semi's are treading water with undecided markets AMD is moving strong as there is and will be a release of new graphic cards at continued lower prices for the consumer.
AMD closed off it's highs today as the semi's weak and NVDA slighty up with INTC squeaking out 6 cents. I saw the same thing today in AH as I did yesterday where there the big trades are going at the ask only there is more volume today (106,323). That is not a lock that it will go up tomorrow but it does look promising AMD RX 460 review roundup: At just $110, this Polaris GPU shines brightly http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/2...-at-just-110-this-polaris-gpu-shines-brightly Radeon RX 460 graphics card finally on sale, but you won’t find AMD’s version http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/amd-radeon-rx-460-launched-partners/

As the markets have pulled way back from the highs, AMD appears to be in the consolidation mode. The real test will be if the markets turn red (knock on wood that does not happen) I am not sure why aminobulls is posting this. Even though this has been in the rumor mill for quite some time. It was more of a possibility when AMD was down for the count. AMD could not hold its gains today and dropped 8 cents on the lowest volume in almost 3 weeks. This brought the price a little further away overbought. AMD’s Radeon RX 460 punches above its weight http://venturebeat.com/2016/08/09/amd-radeon-rx-460-review-punches-above-its-weight/
AMD Partners With Chinese VR Platform 87870 It seems like love at first sight, but a true VR connection will be made in time. AMD is certainly spreading its wings and not letting boarders get in the way of its mission to become the top virtual reality (VR) graphics provider in the industry. It has come out that AMD has joint with China’s first user platform, 87870, and will join together. Read more: http://www.vrfocus.com/2016/08/amd-partners-with-chinese-vr-platform-87870/
Good find @leonx81. From what I read, VR Platform 87870 in #1 in China in what they do. AMD's footprint in China is bigger all the time.
Apple Said to Plan First Pro Laptop Overhaul in Years Apple is using one of AMD’s "Polaris" graphics chips because the design offers the power efficiency and thinness necessary to fit inside the slimmer Apple notebook, the person said. The new graphics card is more than 20 percent thinner than its predecessor, AMD said earlier this year. AMD declined to comment, referring inquiries to Apple. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-said-plan-first-pro-100000872.html
