It was a beat but the forecast of a decrease in revenue was what sunk AMD in AH. I was expecting a much better forecast..
AMD making a bit of a recovery. Only down 3.59% now in pre-market at $6.71. Hopefully the people who wanted out or wanted to short have already done so and it can close the gap up to yesterday's close a little bit.

So what do you all think the low will be from this earnings/guidance dip? Do you think most of the people who wanted out or wanted to short are out now, and it should start heading back up? Personally, I'm concerned about the guidance after all the good news that's come out the last few months.
That is a tough call Chris. One reason the drop is so big on guidance today was the jump yesterday on ER speculation. The shorts are never out until a catalyst pops up, technical adjustment or the price gets low enough that the big boys start pushing the price back up.. As AMD is not oversold yet we could see it test the 6.25 level. Other things to effect the stock price are the NVDA ER, Semi Sector, and the markets them-self. I was impressed with the China deal with BABA. That is like having a contract with Amazon. I really need to read the conference call transcript to give a better take on all of this.
Well, AMD still isn't in oversold territory, so there is space to drop. I think a lot of the drop today is because of the "unearned" rise from speculation surrounding the earnings report. Basically, the stock is where it was at a week-or-so ago.
Just curious what people were thinking. Looks to me like there's support at the $6.50 and $6.25 areas. Excuse my sloppy pencil skills in the chart below.

Up over 7%. I thought the quarterly ER was very positive and though the guidance knocked the price down it presented a nice buying opportunity. Now if it can just break through the low 7’S so she can really run.
On the face of things, the guidance looked scary (-18% sequential revenues). But because the last quarter was so good ($1.3B revenues, +22.6% from last year) it turns out the guidance is in line for $1.066B. So things look good.
You are quite right Marcy. In my opinion Friday's trading was short induced on what was led to believe poor guidance. There was a lot of good press today like AMD's answer to NVDA's low budget card but I keep thinking about Apples upcoming conference call. Will there be any details about AMD and the imac? Much can be said about today's pop, closing at the HOD on strong volume. Nearing the upper BB I noticed a slight widening of the bands.that could indicate a new trend but more confirmation is needed on that.
