Just reached to a new 52-wk high but some profits taking took the SP down to $9.17. We may see another HOD later this afternoon.
An interesting article written by Gordon Mah Ung, I used to listen to his podcast when he was still with Maximum PC. AMD will sneak-peek its high-end Zen CPU in December, starting a new CPU war Why this matters: Intel has essentially had no competition from AMD for nearly a decade in the performance arena, and it has shown. The 10-core Core i7-6950X launched in May at an astounding $1,723. If Summit Ridge can hit the performance AMD claims, and at the rumored prices, 2017 will bring a CPU war unlike any we have seen in years. I think what stopped AMD from breaking out yesterday was the semi sector dragging including NVDA and INTC and of course the markets pulling back. Still bullish and overbought with resistance at 9.23

$AMD premarket someone sells 105,000 shares at 8.91 on downtick then someone buys 100 shares at 9.01 uptick.
Semi's getting hit hard this morning and AMD is no exception. I believe it is on possible corporate regulation.
10/4 that on the SOXX. No Semi escaped that wrath with AMD dropping 5.84% to close at 8.39. Interesting speculation by Cramer but nothing you can bank on. Jim Cramer's Top 10 Takeout Candidates for 2017 1. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) . The company makes chips in the "hottest" area of semiconductors: gaming, which has double-digit growth, Cramer noted. AMD should be bought by Micron Technology (MU) , according to Cramer. Micron stock has been stuck in the teens and the company is acutely aware it needs to get out of there, Cramer said. "I could see Micron soar on this," Cramer said of a possible acquisition of AMD. The deal would help Micron gain exposure to fast growing markets and be "less trapped" in cellphones and tablets. He noted that AMD does not want to be acquired and it just reported a good quarter. https://www.thestreet.com/story/139...ndidates-for-2017.html?puc=yahoo&cm_ven=YAHOO
HIs #1 candidate is a company that does not want to be acquired. Cramer. AMD has a lot of selling pressure at 8.77. The green volume bars disappeared.
I was looking for a continued drop to buy some calls on, but AMD is up as the Semi's not that I am complaining for my long position,

I'll be looking to unload 1K shares at 9.00. Still think this has room to move, but just taking some profits. Also, getting back in the oil game!
AMD stock has had a fantastic 2016, up 192% since the beginning of the year excluding stock market holidays. There hasn’t been much in the way of bad news surrounding AMD stock. On the contrary, the most recent information on Advanced Micro Devicesis about the company’s success. Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) took a major hit on Thursday, but there may not be anything wrong with AMD stock specifically. Semiconductor stocks slipped across the board.
AMD has been around since the 1970s and they lose money. There is something wrong with AMD. It is just one example of how fundamentals don't mean squat to stock prices.
