You could very well be right Chris. If BABA expands it data center, that is a big plus for AMD...We have a little bit of a squeeze taking place. The Nasdaq is losing a little steam...Stay tuned
"Intel, for example, is expected to launch a host of processors this year including the much anticipated Core i7-7700K. " Being in the tech industry and reading articles like this where the analyst is trying desperately to keep up is hilarious. This processor has BEEN out for a while now and is huge disappointment for gamers. Going from last generation's i7-6700K (Q3'15) to the i7-7700K (Q1'17) affords a net increase of zero FPS (frames per second) in games. The main improvement from the 6th generation to the 7th is the integrated graphics on the processor chip - Which, of course, gamers don't use. They use discrete graphics cards from Nvidia or AMD. This is why gamers are so excited about AMD's new offerings because both Intel and Nvidia don't even have to try anymore. Intel has given so few craps that they didn't even keep up with their tick-tock model for the 7th gen chips. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tick-Tock_model But yeah, that's just embarrassing that the guy writes a whole article about how AMD is going to perform this year and he's talking about a "much anticipated" chip that is "expected to launch" ... that has been out for weeks and is a big flop.

Nice pop today as AMD filled the gap at about 10.40 and led the Semi sector today. There is one more gap to fill at about 11.20. BABA give good guidance on growth for 2017 and I think one can connect the dots on that. It was up 11 cents in AH on 529,398 shares traded.
Some buyers gonna get in on this dip, they have been waiting for this. Better to buy it off the highs!
I'm sure some people will buy, but the people who really wanted in already got in when it dipped back into the 9's.
I think AMD went to far too fast this morning on no news, including yesterday's pop. It is doubtful we will see any news before the ER. Until then it may be a slugfest between the bulls and the bears.
I had to look up the specs of the 7700k just now, and am surprised! The fact that I haven't heard much about this and nobody is talking about it really shows something. Wonder why they used a whole generation on slight graphics optimizations.
Haha, seriously. That's why I am so very optimistic about AMD. At this point even if comparable AMD processors were the SAME price as Intel people would want to buy the AMD just out of spite. But, of course, AMD's going to have the better deals as usual ... What isn't usual is that the "Intel is the best" sentiment has changed.
After a volatile trading session yesterday, AMD up this morning as the Semi's, including NVDA are down.
AMD pushing higher the last hour or so. I wonder if it's on speculation of a deal with INTC (who reports today after hours), or if it's something leaked to those "in the know".
