    The Magic of Disney

What a day and a year it has been for Disney (DIS). The company's stock is up over 4% today, which is the type of one day gain it has only seen three other times in the last four years. While the stock is not quite at an all-time high on an intraday basis, if the current levels hold into the close, it will be the highest closing price for the stock on record.

Shares of Disney are currently up over 29% YTD, putting it on pace for its best YTD performance (through 6/13) since 2000. The table below lists all years in which Disney shares were up 25% or more through this date in the year going back to 1980. For the nine prior years shown, we also show how DIS performed from 6/13 through year-end as well as how the stock performed for the entire year. As the results indicate, there is no clear pattern for the stock following strong starts for the year in the first half. In the nine prior years shown, the stock was up 10%+ four times, down 10%+ four times, and basically flat once!

One decade out of the last four that was exceptionally strong for DIS was the 1980s. Of the nine prior years highlighted in the above table, five of them were in the 1980s. All those strong years add up. In that decade alone, the stock was up 918%, even after a decline of 17% in the final 12 weeks of 1989. Without that last sell-off to close out the decade, DIS would have been up over 1,120%.

Look, it turns out like the divergence on stochastics and rsi. We must wait until the divergences are formed. If this happens, then sell. You can put a stop order under 134.83. This is the minimum of the previous candle.

Walt Disney is moving in an uptrend. There was a divergence on RSI and stochastics, but this was broken upwards. So while the upward movement continues, now is a good time to buy with a goal of 150.00. From the level of 150.00 you may have to sell already.

What is Walt Disney doing? And yet I insist that the price will move up. Probably after the rebound from the red line Tenkan.

I thought yesterdays move below $140 would be a shift in the trend to the downside, but todays bounce is undoing that.

It appears compelling, but I'm not a buyer until possibly after Spring Break. I suspect Disney Florida is trying to nuance their way through Spring Break, and then will announce park closures (Disney Asia---which includes Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai---are already closed). It seems a reasonable guess that DIS stock price will further collapse in response to US closures.

Its not going to be a V -bottom thats for sure, but a great opportunity to fish for companies that will make out it the other side.

Looks like Disney shanghai will be opening up in July, with no parades or events with large gatherings.

Can't hug Mickey? Might as well go to Universal Studios.

It's unbelievable that they're not letting you bring in your own food.

I'm not a fan. Overpriced. From the parking fee, to the entry ticket, to food and drinks. Child's amusement park. But we don't have to discuss the hundreds of dollars I spend on adult entertainment.

I like Disney stock. I liked it even better buying under $100. And when the dividend comes back, it will be even better.

I made a mistake not buying UAL @ $1 after 9/11. Personal sentiment. I didn't want to profiteer off murder. I should also have bought Ford when it was $1, and dealerships were giving away shares with new car purchase. I was dumb enough to think that US auto manufacturers were going out of business for good...I was wrong. I couldn't hold back this time. I bought Disney and Boeing at $100, with the intention of holding them forever.

I don't remember any amusement parks allowing anything other than baby formula. I used to pack an ice chest, then go back out to the car to eat my own food. Not being cheap. Just like my own food versus what they sold back then.
