Earnings season is going to kick-off next week. How many of you are interested in earnings reports and conference calls?
I don't normally do the conference calls unless it is a position I own and have some reason for concern. That said, I'm all about the earnings. I want companies that at least meet expectations and those expectations are higher then the same quarter last year. Because this is part of what I look at when I buy, I already know that future earnings have growing expectations. I do get a surprise once in awhile when the forward projections drop as that is what causes the gap down most of the time. I'm presently figuring out what I want to do going into earnings on my current holdings. My choices are to sell, buy a protective put or do nothing. Have not worked out my actual real money rules yet.
