Current portfolio is as follows: ABBV 12.0% CSSEP 13.0% DIS 7.4% ENB 9.3% GOF 6.9% GTN 7.7% IWM 7.1% KMI 11.2% NVAX 4.1% QQQ 4.4% QTS-A 5.6% TRTN 5.0% VV 6.2%
So I changed course a little bit last week and sold QQQ. I think tech stock performance will be muted over the medium term so I sold. The money from selling QQQ will be used to purchase more of what I have or alternatively I may open a postion in JETS, an airline etf. If vaccination continues travel will increase which bodes well for airlines I think. Problem is that I want dividends and no airline etf or airline stock is going to pay dividends any time soon.
I did make some purchases today but not JETS. Instead I bought 46 shares of KLIC which is a machinery supplier to the semiconductor industry. I also bought 2 additional shares of QTS-A. Share prices are down, I like the dividend, and I like the protection afforded by preferred stock. I am now fully invested. Next purchases will likely be near the end of the month when dividend payments roll in. Only other thing that could happen is selling something to lock in gains (i.e. KMI) or selling to limit loss. Nothing there yet for either scenario.
Will be watching my positions in ABBV and TRTN over the next couple weeks. ABBV is rising a bit but nothing remarkable. Been floundering like a beached dolphin actually. TRTN has been doing great but if analyst reports are right there might not be much growth room left.
Current portfolio CSSEP 12.74% ABBV 11.88% KMI 11.70% ENB 9.34% GTN 7.98% DIS 7.44% IWM 7.31% GOF 6.84% VV 6.19% QTS-A 5.59% TRTN 4.94% KLIC 4.17% NVAX 3.86% Cash 0.02%
Sold 1/2 of position in ABBV. Having almost 12% of my portfolio in a position that isn't doing anything good or bad does not further my goals. Will look to purchase something different (or more of an existing position) on Monday when the funds will have settled.
Hope you enjoy.I have a fab comment for you. It is a long and winding road. Hopefully you chose the best GPS app.
Sorry I am related to the unknown comic from the 70's. The one with the bag over his head. Investing is a 40 year ride that I travel. To make sure I go the best route I use a GPS Tracker to tell me what is the best way. My GPS tracker involves Solomon the wisest man on earth.
So by GPS tracker you are referring to the sources of information you use to help you decide what stocks to buy, when to sell, etc? If so then know my GPS is a mix of https://www.investorsobserver.com/ (1st source of wisdom) supplemented by the wsj.com evaluation of a company. I use more than just these two but that is where I start.
Yesterday in my personal family contest I used an old philosophy an old man told me about in the early 70's. I believe it was Neil Young, and I purchased APH. Lets see if the investor agrees with Neil Young. Again excuse my comedy. Of course at my age I do take a look at myself.
Current holdings ABBV 5.6% CSSEP 12.9% DIS 7.3% ENB 10.8% GOF 6.7% GTN 9.1% IWM 7.2% KLIC 6.0% KMI 11.3% NVAX 4.7% QTS-A 5.6% TRTN 6.7% VV 6.2%
I had sold my KLIC shares last week to lock some gains and put the money to other existing positions. Since then the price has dropped and the analyst price targets for the company have risen quite a bit. Hence I'm buying back in as I've freed up cash in both my stock account and my self-directed IRA.
Yesterday sold my positions in SMH and XTN. Bought 10 shares of DE (new position), 27 shares of KLIC (expanded position), 2 shares of GOOGL (new position), 1 share AMZN (new position), 4 shares CSSEP (expanded position). Looking forward to dividend payments tomorrow and next week.
