still working my way back into this crazy world after being in another world and this was my song today
Did someone mention jazz? The year 1959 marked a milestone in jazz with 4 timeless albums. I think I've posted the cut "Take Five" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Here's another great. Miles Davis playing "So What" on the first cut from the "Kind of Blue" album, the best selling jazz album of all time. John Coltrane on sax, Bill Evans on piano. 1) So What 2) Freddie Freeloader 3) Blue in Green 4) All Blues 5) Flamenco Sketches 6) Flamenco Sketches (alternative take)
Tour 2019 was sold out within 15 Minutes ? Because a lot of people complained they made a part 2. Was sold out yesterday in 20 minutes. Did not got tickets again..
The best radio station in Northwest Wisconsin or anywhere for that matter. I tune in when I'm up there and stream it when I miss being up there. https://www.wojb.org/
^If you check the "programming" page you can see the night's theme. Monday night is Blues Monday, I like that, and Saturday night is Honky Tonk but fair warning about Tuesday night, "Drumsong", aka Pow Wow night. It's interesting and unique and my appreciation has grown, but I can only take so much.
I listen to a lot of Frank Sinatra and I am getting introduced to Kpop. Kpop is really diverse and interesting. I think the forum members should give it a try. I was recently listening to BTS-Boy in love
It's pow wow night. I'm tuned in this week but you can check it out on: https://www.wojb.org/ It's primitive but somehow appropriate for up here. I let our little dog out about 4 am last night and shined the flashlight on a wolf in our orchard...wild....so I'm playing it kind of loud so the wolves can enjoy it too. When we lived here with 4 young children we had a Great Pyrenees to keep the wolves at bay. We called her Ursa. She would follow the kids around the yard and plop down and guard them.
Music from around the world this Thursday night until 11pm CDT on WOJB.org. I'm likin it. 11 to midnight is Afropop and then Undercurrents after midnight.
Cool mix of stuff! Bookmarking WOJB for future listens. Here in Finland, I learned of a 1970s and 80s throw-back rockabilly band that was huge in the Baltics...Hurriganes. It featured a lead singer Finnish drummer who sang in English without knowing the language. He phonetically mimic'ed English, so that half of the words were nonsense. For example:
handel is not too shabby either. when i was a kid growing up in a methodist church used to see the writing credit as handel in the hymn book and never gave it a second thought. but now, i appreciate the genius that is handel.
