I don't think there's a difference between 2:45 and 3:15, or even 2:30 and 3:30 to a casual fan. Both are big investments. But what do you get in that investment? The pitch clock brings nothing new to the game, it's still the same game played faster. Although maybe instead of pitchers trying to fool hitters, we'd see a change to pitchers just going with their best pitches. That's as much change as I can imagine with this.

They could keep the same long games, but if there was more to watch and discuss it would be a better game imo.

I've got other ideas like changing the lineup rules. Baseball is the only game where the scrub gets as much chances at the plate as the superstar. And those weak parts of the lineup on both teams can result in 30 dead minutes. Let's be honest, that's what we want to shorten.

Guys are afraid to change the game. But why keep the old records if they're worthless nowadays? Cy Young's 511 wins seem ridiculously out of reach in today's game since no one pitches 50 games a year anymore. Barry Bonds' home run records are pretty much ignored because of the steroid issue. If you change the game then these records could fall, but are we bothered by that?

Billy Beane statistical analysis has run amok. No more catcher visits to the mound. Limit coaches and managers visits, too. Flash the sign from dugout to catcher, then catcher to pitcher and then pitch the freakin' ball. Enough already. I haven't watched a game start to finish in ages. Just don't have 3 hours to vegetate.

Gonna try to make at least 1 trip down to Atlanta for a game this season. Maybe when the Cubs visit in the middle of May.

Angels in Oakland. Too late for all you Eastern Coasters. This is my final Angels opening day if they can't put together and make post season. Life's too short to pull for losers.

    ----

oh, wait. game starts at 1:05 pacific. duh.

Very first pitch of the MLB season, Ian Happ of the Cubs hits a HR.

so the cubs game today got ppd due to snow but the white sox are playing ball? just found that to be interesting.

was looking forward to catching some of the home opener.

so glad to finally have opening week in the books.

red sox 8-1 out of the gate ... will try to catch some of the series against the yanks this week.

The Angels already have the best player in baseball, Mike Trout. But, he's playing second fiddle to Ohtani at this point. Ohtani is for real. Very exciting to watch.
    -------

    Apr. 8th, 2018
ANAHEIM -- Nineteen up, 19 down. The sold-out crowd at Angel Stadium was buzzing, chanting and screaming. The Angels' two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani was eight outs from perfection in just his second career start before a base hit in the seventh inning -- the only one Ohtani would allow all afternoon over seven scoreless innings -- ended his bid to become the 22nd pitcher to throw a perfect game.

The Ohtani story is pretty awesome, I hope he really is the real deal. Small sample size so far, but I'm optimistic.

so many games getting ppd to snow/rain so early in the season thus far...crazy.

i see your game was also ppd yesterday @T0rm3nted

did they schedule it for a later date?

hopefully you'll get some nice weather whenever that is.

i'm still looking to make the trip down to ATL when the cubs visit in a month from now. like to go to at least one of those games in that series. we'll see.

Maybe we can just postpone the Reds entire season this year - maybe just take a gap year.

Ya, we were able to sell the tickets the day before so we didn't have to worry about it. Woulda been postponed til May 14th anyways which is a Monday, so I would have had to work. Dodged a bullet.

Yeah, the weather was nuts this year.

Going to a Cubs game Wednesday night for a buddies birthday. Here's to a good game, and lots of drinks! Oh, and of course a Cubbies win!
