Energizer had a positive surprise this morning re earnings and anticipated revenue for 2021. Yet the entire increase in share price came in premarket trading. It's dropped a bit in regular market trading.

Why doesn't great earnings report generate more potent positive results?

BECAUSE.....over the short term the markets are OFTEN NOT RATIONAL. OR....everyone ALREADY discounted the "surprise".

... and then there is the chance of insider trading making their moves before the announcement.

For those who don't want to get rich quickly, there is always Tom's approach....

Buy the value, don't sell until the company is no longer fundamentally sound.

Actually have my eye on a couple that haven't recovered from the earlier sell-off.

One thing to consider is waiting to buy until after the x date on dividend stocks, they open next day minus the dividend amount and often dip a little more, something to consider when value investing.
