As this opens up in Germany and other countries, its only getting bigger! I dont think they ever expected this kind of massive roll out!
I think no one did at least they didn't expect it to be this quick. There are news, stories about it in every channel every day. Their servers couldnt even handle limited opening at this point. It's not even released in many asian countries and I bet especially China will go nuts over this game. I remember reading somewhere they spent over $20 billion on games just last year. Stock price was around $17.60 just a week ago and now it is over $30 and doesn't seem like it will go down anytime soon before its released in all countries... It might end up adding a different revenue source by offering retailers more pokestops, gyms etc to increase the traffic in their stores.
Attention Monster Hunters: Sprint and Boost Mobile Stores Become ‘Must Stop’ Location for Pokémon Go Players Starting tomorrow millions of Pokémon Go players are invited to visit neighborhood Sprint (NYSE:S) and Boost Mobile retail store locations around the country for help in stepping up their monster search. Sprint stores will have lures to attract monsters that players can capture. For the closest store locations visit www.sprint.com/store and www.boostmobile.com/store. Additionally, gamers can take advantage of free charging stations and knowledgeable on-site Pokémon Go experts that can help beginners learn the game or more advanced hunters with strategy and location of nearby Gyms and PokéStops. “We welcome Pokémon Go players to visit their local Sprint and Boost Mobile stores to capture some of the monsters in town,” said Roger Sole, Sprint chief marketing officer. “Our knowledgeable staff will help you download the game on your phone, explain how it’s played, locate PokéStops in the area and even provide a power up for your device so game players can continue their adventures fully charged.” Sole added: “Since the game launched just nine days ago, we’ve seen its meteoric rise with millions of our customers across the country playing on the Sprint network – often simultaneously -- including in our more than 200 LTE Plus markets. Of course, customers can enjoy the benefit of our unlimited data plans, so they can play without the worry of overage charges as they continue their Pokémon Go adventures. We also want to remind gamers to play responsibly while hunting monsters: be aware of their surroundings and never play while driving.” http://finance.yahoo.com/news/attention-monster-hunters-sprint-boost-230700702.html
I was commenting about this yesterday. PokemonGo has become a major driver of foot traffic to places that have being scratching their heads for years about how to get people to go there. There are going to be some interesting retail numbers from malls IMO.
If you're this damn stupid, stop playing games.... If you're that damn stupid... keep playing video games (away from endangering others) so that survival of the fittest can take place. Some people just don't belong on this Earth. Harsh, but come on now...
I was at a kids party yesterday, so many adults playing this game! I wish Niantic was a public company, they would be soaring here!
But what if there was a really rare pokemon? Would you not walk off a cliff for that? Obviously you are not dedicated enough!
$NTDOY rallied another 12% today and closed @37.36... It is now, more than doubled its pre-pokemon share price ($17.6) within less than 2 weeks. I am still mad @Robinhood for not letting me buy it at the first place. I am also kicking myself too for not giving a call to vanguard to buy shares when it also didn't let me buy it online (idk why...) and gave me an error saying to give them a call to buy that stock...
The best we can hope for is a sell off of some kind for an entry. As it stands, this game is still getting more and more popular.
Nintendo Co: After Share Price Soars Thanks to Pokemon Go, Is the Only Way Down? http://www.thecsuite.co.uk/CIO/stra...ars-thanks-to-pokemon-go-is-the-only-way-down Nintendo Is Now Worth More Than Tesla, Netflix, Yahoo, EA http://www.investors.com/news/nintendo-is-now-worth-more-than-tesla-netflix-yahoo/?yptr=yahoo
If the roll out to Japan and the rest of the world is met with equal excitement, its worth it. However, there is a honeymoon period which lasts about 3-4 weeks, there is going to be a sharp decline in players in the coming month. Niantic will then release 2nd and 3rd gen pokemon as time goes on, which should keep people engaged!
I got fairly bored with the game now. Grinded the hell out of it for the first week or so. The fact that it's impossible to hold a gym makes the whole point of the game to collect pokemon. There's quite literally nothing else to it after that because there's no PVP or the ability to actually hold a gym, no matter how strong your pokemon are.
I was at a park with a girlfriend and it was amazing to see how many people were out there from ages 15-50 playing this game. If the park feels a need to add a sign to warn players what they can do or cant do, then it means this thing became seriously ridiculous. I wonder what will be the next game that will be utilize "augmented reality". At some point this will start to fade away as people realize it will be pretty hard to "conquer" level 6-7 gyms and that "rich gets richer" everyday. I guess we will see...
