Not sure if we get too much upside left after the bill getting passed tomorrow, maybe we already had our santa claus rally I don't really think we will see that much of selling rest of the year too though, I doubt people going to sell now if tax rates will be lower next year unless they think the market will crash in early January next year I think we go higher and reach those round numbers that you talked about (DOW 25k and SPX 2.7K)before EOY
Ok, Im selling everything I own and putting it all on bitcoin, this will surely mark the top! I need one of you to take out a massive short position because it is sure to fall once I go all in!
when all is said and done 2017 could go down as the most history making year for the market. made some more history today - the dj30 had its 70th record close which amazingly is the most for a single year ever since going all the way back to the inception of the dow in 1896. the previous record was 69 from 1995.
The House Rules Committee voted on Monday evening to hold the House vote for the GOP tax bill on Tuesday afternoon, says Reuters. If the bill passes the House, the Senate could then vote on it later Tuesday or Wednesday.
so far /ES ONH is exactly to yesterday's ATH print (which btw was a poor high) with still no excess on the profile (which as you might have guessed doesn't exactly suggest the up move is done yet ) ... i guess all eyes on the tax bill vote later today so thinking it will be choppy ahead of that absent a black swan event
House GOP approves massive tax overhaul as Senate aims to vote https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/19/house-passes-gop-tax-reform-bill.html and....the markets pull back on the news...lol
remember, senate has to vote on it this week as well, so there may be another run up upon the passage, followed by a typical wallstreet sell off.
look at the VIX + 5.25% with XIV/VXX ~ .15% - option expiration is tomorrow. I've also noticed that over the last couple months of VIX options expiration there have been jumps in the VIX. I don't think this is related to contango, but this is option expiration week - so maybe it'll work out for a quick jump on VXX
Senate Republicans approve tax overhaul, sending it to the House for another vote Senate Republicans pass their massive tax overhaul in a 51-48 party line vote. The House still needs to vote again on the bill before it can go to President Donald Trump. The proposal would slash taxes on businesses and trim the tax burden on most individuals. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/20/senate-republicans-approve-tax-reform-bill-sending-it-to-house.html Well tax reform pretty much is a done deal now, the chance that the House will vote against the bill tomorrow is close to zero
