I tried the iPhone X at the Apple Store few weeks ago, wasn't really used to a phone without a home button I am not the one who is willing to spend $1000 on a phone but I do know a few persons who went for the iPhone X instead of the 8.
Not much for the "Santa Claus Rally" so far this year, possibly we already had our santa claus rally when the market rallied into the passage of tax reform. Some sectors like energy, retail, and commodity (cooper, steel, iron ore, etc) have a pretty good day though.
2017 S&P 500 Stock Market Performance in Three Charts Dec 26, 2017 The set of charts below highlights the performance of the S&P 500 throughout 2017. In the top chart, we break down performance by month. The price line is green if the S&P posted gains during the month, and the line is red if the S&P posted a decline. As you can see, the index was up in price in 2017 in every month except March, and in March it only fell 0.04%. Talk about a consistently positive year! The second chart in the set shows the daily change of the S&P 500 throughout the year. While there were certainly more up days than down days, the thing that stands out most is that the index didn’t see a gain or decline of more than 2% on any trading day in 2017. The final chart in our set highlights the S&P 500’s average percentage change by weekday through 2017. As shown, every trading day of the week averaged a gain except for Thursday, which saw an average decline of 0.05% throughout the year.
interesting stat i just came across... since the bull market begin in 2009 only 2 years was the SPX actually higher from Xmas through year end seems we are following that yet again this year (or at least so far anyway)
SCR not off to a hot start, but not really down much just flat ... still plenty of time for a nice run here's day #2 of the SCR with 5 to go-
Definitely interesting Will be interesting to see how the market starts in 2018, I think we started well in January 2017 but not so much in 2016
holy choppy overnight session for the /es batman ... literally 3 handles (12 ticks) for the entire range up to this point ... volume extremely light so probably will just be another boring day absent a black swan
Where is this black swan you keep talking about? But you are right, things have been so calm and relaxed with massive rallies every month for so long, we have not had a good black swan in a very long time. Most of the new arrivals have never seen one, which is when they usually happen.
Still stuck in the regression channel....for now. Def looks like a bull flag forming though...we shall see.
Choppy day. I guess we won't see too much movement until the New Year starts, a lot of people probably are done for the year
IWM had some nice swings, but I wasn't trading today....trying to clear my " 3 day trades max in 5 day period " PDT crapola in the margin account. I'll never open a margin account again....lol
whelp the SCR ain't really doin' much of anything (yet) maybe we'll get some movement in the last two days of the santa rally. for now we're still looking at a down SCR (but flat as a pancake ) day #3 with 4 to go- START: 2,684.57 CURRENT: 2,682.62 (-0.07%) this chart is a bit dated but if we do eventually end up with a down SCR this year i'll be curious to see if we also follow up with having a down FFD (first five days) and a down JB (january barometer)-
I think the only thing that might move this market is the unemployment report due out this morning.... @bigbear0083
Well another pretty choppy day and we probably won't see that much movement on the last trading day of the year tomorrow I am not doing much, pretty much just looking at some bad performing stocks this year to play for a bounce in January/next year
looks like we could notch yet another ATH (on a closing basis) for the DJ30 today. would add on to the already record 71st ATH close of the year. nice little pop eod here.
whelp, it's been a helluva year for the markets in 2017, now we see if the SPX can close up 20% for the year with the final trading day of the year tomorrow. also just for kicks here, i setup a daily market poll for the final trading day of 2017- Stockaholics Daily Stock Pick Challenge & SPX Sentiment Poll for Friday (12/29) curious to see if everyone is thinking higher, lower, or flat to close out 2017.
