haha yes indeed. good calls for us i guess well today was pretty historic for me personally as this was the first time i have ever experienced a market wide trading halt during the RTH (regular trading hours) as a result of the circuit breakers kicking in after the SPX fell -7% at the open...was interesting to say the least haha
I think we still see plenty of dips to come. This is just the initial knee jerk here, the real economic damage has yet to be seen!
Yikes, the last two weeks! I been on vacation and haven't paid attention. Should I go to cash in my 401K? I don't feel like we are even close to a bottom.
Yep but this has been kind of violent, I guess. Cant remember oldie too many days like this w/ sp droping almost 7%! Till few days ago i was completly confident about future path; now Im more worried about true impact this crap will have on companies results.
Yes,it's definitely a concern. I still think this is getting blown out of proportion ( like Greece, Trade war, etc ).
Talking to a friend in S Korea... tourism is down, shop traffic is down, renters for store fronts are asking landlords to drop rent rates because they cant pay. Landlords come out short on mortgages... it ripples through. We have not had our first ripple in the US yet.
this is not too significant, but just worth noting that as bad as these past few weeks have maybe felt for the overall market, the bull market for the big 3 indices is still intact here, albeit not by too much small cap index, and especially trannies are already in bear now though
interesting, wasn't sure if we were actually gonna close out with a -2,000 print ... looks like we did
I’ve seen vids of empty Chinese highways with no one on them. ...seems to have hit China and Korea hard and fast. Japan, not as bad. Italy is getting hit pretty hard as well as Iran. I still think it’s all about containment. If the CDC doesn’t start getting serious about that, then we could be screwed. The 1st case here in Florida, the woman told the CDC in NY as well as Atlanta airports that she thought she might be infected since she was flying back from Italy. The sent her on her way with NO examination. WTF ?? https://www.newsweek.com/florida-coronavirus-patient-cdc-domestic-flight-flu-like-symptoms-1490393
funny, just last week you and i were mentioning how the market was making daily moves that we would typically see in a weekly or a monthly basis. today was more like a quarterly or even a yearly move in 1 day lol
Looks like the SPX is close to the bear market territory Many indexes in other countries are already in bear market territory
yep, here's my indices correction table again with the updated numbers from today's close. we're now -19.06% off the ATH in the cash SPX. 2,714.82 would be the exact -20% bear territory level, so just another 32 handles away. DJ30 and nazzy also closing in as well. they're both currently off -19.34% and -19.19% respectively.
Thanks Cy. Do you have the live version of this table on the first page of this thread by the way? I didn’t have a chance to look yet
ah yes, thanks for reminding me! not sure why i've had that set to private all this time lol. here's my direct link to that very google sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EQ0Em2LOWjGDH10X57bEyUSpqCNveqi_HSTK67nlVes/edit?usp=sharing let me know if that link opens/works for you. that is my live sheet that auto updates during market hours.
