Guess the market didn’t take the raise in tariffs too seriously yesterday and thought it was just a threat, now it seems like it will become a reality

seems like indices are in kind of in a holding pattern here after the last couple of days of heightened vol... i guess the tariffs are set to go into effect by this friday if i'm not mistaken? anyone think we'll get some kind of a "can-kick" here? maybe see a delay of sorts for at least the next week or couple of weeks? idk, maybe it's just me but i'd be kind of surprised if this actually does come to pass on friday...albeit stranger things have happened so who knows. thinking we'll get an eleventh hour extension of some kind at the very least. jmo. guess we'll find out in a few days
In a vacuum, I think Trump should put tariffs on China this Friday. Also looking at the Shanghai composite, it looks like it will happen. But really, Trump needs to do things to get re-elected next year. Handicapping the whole world's growth doesn't play well into that. So a few I listen to say, and I'm wary for it, Trump will not impose the tariffs. Probably talk about the Great Progress they're making, like he's done a few times and that has gotten the market bouncing. But still no closer to the real important people meeting (Trump and Xi); still just the underlings.
wow....lol...must be some truth behind it since GM said they "were in talks"...183% so far Trump tweet sends penny stock Workhorse surging by more than 150%, crashes website https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/08/tru...g-by-more-than-50percent-crashes-website.html
