Earnings before the open tomorrow morning: ($BABA $YELP $AGN $TWX $SHOP $CLX $KATE $VMC $DLPH $ANTM $ALKS $ABC $EL $CCJ $ODP $ADP $NRZ $CRTO $FLWS)
I bought a position, long, the other day. I had planned on going really big on Monday before the election, but it seems like it's too late for that. At least my small position is making money.
Gold broke out of the downtrend There is still resistance, but maybe a good time for a partial position here. Many people talking about the 13.5 month cycle low for gold being in October/November (https://www.mcoscillator.com/learning_center/weekly_chart/golds_13-1_2_month_cycle_low/) Some still believe there's one more wave down, and there is 1) the rate hike announcement, and 2) the election yet to come. (I can't find the precious metals thread)
If we can just get a slight pull back in volatility I'll add to my position, but so far we're just down down down. Sucks.
good post Marcy thx for sharing yea the search function here is going to need some work ... i know a lot of people are having issues with it (myself included) took me a while to find the gold thread but here it was -> http://www.stockaholics.net/threads/gold-futures-and-etfs-gld-dgl-gdx-iau.58/
this might sound completely pretty ridiculous but as much as volatility has already moved in the past few days i'm thinking this can still continue higher as we inch closer to the election ... this pre-election jitters is starting to get real lol
-25 handles on the /ES looks petty massive at first blush as we haven't had a move of 20+ handles in forever it seems but to me this all looks very much on the orderly scale imo... edit: yep ... tick just hit highest read of the day here ... /es 10 handles off lod
Very cautious here because we are testing this 2093.50 and I think that might be it today.....just watching
biotech held up really well today. and wow VRX popped 33%! Valeant shares spike on report it is in talks to sell Salix unit http://www.cnbc.com/2016/11/01/valeant-shares-spike-on-report-it-is-in-talks-to-sell-salix-unit.html
Gilead misses on earnings, their blockbuster HEP C revenues misses on estimates, they need to start making big aquisitions and getting some more headline drugs.
Oh wow, the one thing that could save VRX right now actually happened: an acquisition rumor. At least the rumors are consistent, the buyer is Takeda again. Funny that VRX bought Salix for $15B a few years ago and now seriously looking to sell it for $10B. But oh boy that's +34% when you're trading at a P/E below 3. Regarding the general market, knew we would bounce. Everyone knows you buy the dip when the market goes down 1% at the close. Funny thing is we started trading with a gap up from yesterday.
