Lowe’s reports earnings tomorrow morning. I’m currently up >27% on my position but had a target of 35%. Anecdotally, the Lowe’s in my area has been extremely packed every day this whole thing has been going on. Not sure if I’ll sell before close to lock in profit, or hold through earnings.
Ended up holding LOW. We'll see how it does in the morning. Details from the stop of GILD yesterday are below.
Updates on all open positions below. Also sitting on ~$24K cash, so 2.4 normal sized positions ready to make purchases if I find any positions I like. AAPL only 1.4% off from target LOW only 1.7% off from target INTC over half way to target very quick MCD has performed well since my purchase KO was intended to be a much longer trade and probably will remain so. Getting closer to being green after a nice open today though. COST is up a little. This was a much tighter range. Low risk low reward type trade considering the target was only ~7.5% gain with a tight stop. ROKU is currently below my stop level so I'm watching it close and prepared to dump it. This is definitely our biggest loser (only 2 current losers are ROKU and KO). Down about 13% on it. I'll be dumping it if it goes and stays below the 50MA which is only about 1% away right now.
Just stopped out of ROKU for ~15% loss. One of my worse trades, kept thinking it would turn around and never did. Just gotta keep it in perspective so we stay clear-headed. We have many much larger gainers currently and have sold some recently as well.
The best problem to have... being above your 35.8% target you had on a trade, but now not knowing when to sell.
Update to wrap up the week (obviously still a few hours to go but I have time now). AAPL - Been in since 4/21. Target was 21.64%, currently above target up 22.65%. I will probably just monitor from this point on, since it's always hard to tell when to sell around this area. I also received a dividend while in this position of $0.82/share. I'll probably sell if it drops back to my target and not worry about what could have been if it goes higher. Plan was executed. COST - Been in since 5/14. Target was 7.42%, currently up 3.54%. This was supposed to be low risk low reward and has played out that way. INTC - Been in since 5/14. Target was 20.14%, currently up 14.07%. Gained a bit quick, consolidated for a week with the rest of tech, and now pushing back up today. KO - Been in since 4/20. Target is 25.9%, currently up 3.52%. This one was, and is, intended to be a longer term, safer play. Popular household brand that isn't going away. Also a dividend paying stock while I wait for the longer term target. Took awhile to get into the green, but I monitored it as it was approaching and temporarily below the stop to make sure it didn't completely lose support in that area. LOW - Been in since 4/21. Target was 35.8%, currently up 40.72%. This has been my biggest gainer, and one I'm watching for an exit now. Well over my target, but probably has room to run even further in this propped up market. I'll probably sell if it drops back down to my original target and not grieve over the extra 5% I could have sold for today. MCD - Been in since 5/14. Target was 26.28%, currently up 16.07%. Been a steady gainer. Probably going to be a little consolidation at the perfect round number of $200/share. I'm sure lots of profit takers around that beautiful number. I'm also sitting on cash of about 34.8% of my portfolio value unfortunately, but it's from positions that I've closed and have no bargains that I'm noticing right now. This market is on crack, and extremely unjustified, but as long as it's out of touch with reality, I might as well profit from it as much as I can.
ll it's been almost 3 weeks since I posted updates. Portfolio remains unchanged, just a couple more deposits to the 401k coming out of my paychecks. Updates on all positions below. AAPL Been in since 4/21. Target was 21.64% Previous update on 6/5 up 22.65%. Currently up 36.70%. Dividends Received: $30.34 Still just watching and waiting for an exit point. Continues to push higher, far past my original target. COST Been in since 5/14 Target was 7.42% Previous update on 6/5 up 3.54% Currently down 0.01% Dividends Received: $0 Doesn't get much flatter than that. Currently sitting at support from the 200MA. INTC Been in since 5/14 Target was 20.14% Previous update on 6/5 up 14.07% Currently up 5.66% Dividends Received: $0 Down quite a bit over the last 3 weeks, but still positive on the position. With the Nasdaq being at ATH's, it's kind of puzzling that this has lost quite a bit of ground over the last 3 weeks. Might be time to cut ties soon. KO Been in since 4/20 Target was 25.9% Previous update on 6/5 up 3.52% Currently down 4.19% Dividends Received: $0 Again, originally intended to be held much longer term than most of my trades, so I plan to stick to that. I'm also not opposed to cutting ties if we see a decent sized market dip and some other opportunity. LOW Been in since 4/21 Target was 35.8% Previous update on 6/5 was up 40.72% Currently up 44.82% Dividends Received: $0 Still watching for an exit. Probably put a stop around $130 area which would still exceed my original target. MCD Been in since 5/14 Target was 26.28% Previous update on 6/5 up 16.07% Currently up 8.75% Dividends Received: $72.50 Down quite a bit from last update 3 weeks ago. Consolidating between the 50 and 200MA. Hoping that breakout is bullish. Account Value: $106,793.42 Cash: $37832.72 (35.4%) Again, this market is so propped up. I'm expecting after the November election to see a huge pullback. The market is propped up purely for political reasons and has zero basis in reality. With as fake as the market is right now, it's near future is very bleak. If a new president is elected in November, the market will tank (IMO) and they will be blamed for it, but everyone paying attention will know that it was artificially inflated so badly, that there's zero chance it could have held up for anyone. It need to see that enormous pullback to reflect the actual economy to become significantly healthier long-term.
Just hopped into SPXL as I think the market will find some support at the 200SMA. Trade will probably be closed later today.
Closed for a 0.3% loss. Would have kept it open a couple hours longer but boss said I could leave 2 hours early so not gonna monitor the position.
Let it be noted, I'm too lazy to do the ACTUAL math on most of those. I just take the starting amount and contributions and then based % gain/loss off that, instead of realizing I didn't have those contributions the entire period. The returns are actually all a little higher because of that flawed math, but I'd rather just keep it simple.
A little over a week since my last update. Been in and out of SPXL a couple time since for about a 5% gain combined between the positions. Current open positions below. AAPL Been in since 4/21. Target was 21.64% Previous update on 6/24 up 36.70%. Currently up 37.68%. Dividends Received: $30.34 No end in sight yet. No significant news. INTC Been in since 5/14 Target was 20.14% Previous update on 6/5 up 5.66% Currently up 4.58% Dividends Received: $0 Down about 1% since the last update, but still positive on the position. Still concerning that the Nasdaq continues to push forward but INTC is lagging way behind in comparison. No significant news. KO Been in since 4/20 Target was 25.9% Previous update on 6/24 up 4.19% Currently down 4.81% Dividends Received: $86.10 Received a dividend since the last update. Down a little since the last update. This is currently my only losing position. Coca Cola entered into the hard seltzer business this last week. LOW Been in since 4/21 Target was 35.8% Previous update on 6/24 was up 44.82% Currently up 48.93% Dividends Received: $0 Still watching for an exit. Continuing to make highs, and anecdotally it's always packed when I drive by or go in over the last few months. I think people spending less time out and more time at home has made for antsy people working on projects and home fixes. I know since the pandemic I've stained the deck, bought a new grill, fixed up my man cave a bit, and built a backyard fire pit. I'm sure there's more, but that's off the top of my head. No significant news. MCD Been in since 5/14 Target was 26.28% Previous update on 6/24 up 8.75% Currently up 8.51% Dividends Received: $72.50 Basically flat. No significant news. Account Value: $108,414.94 - Up from $106,793.42 last update Cash: $38,885.18 (35.9%) - Up from 35.4% last update
8 days since my last update. Current open positions below. AAPL Been in since 4/21. Target was 21.64% Previous update on 7/2 up 37.68%. Currently up 42.29%. Dividends Received: $30.34 Continuing to push higher. Always hard to tell when to sell when your target has been reached. Deutsche bank raised price target to $400 this past week. Apparently iPhone production is up as well. Berkshire is now 43% AAPL as well. Those are about the only significant news I saw since my last update. COST Been in since 5/14 Target was 7.42% Previous update on 7/2 up 1.99% Currently up 7.97% Dividends Received: $0 Above my target on this one now too. Costco had strong June sales. INTC Been in since 5/14 Target was 20.14% Previous update on 7/2 up 4.58% Currently up 4.11% Dividends Received: $0 Down about 0.4% since the last update, but still positive on the position. NVDA passed INTC as largest US chipmaker based on market cap. Goldman Sachs also downgraded INTC from Neutral to sell. Mostly negative news but it held up at basically flat since 8 days ago. KO Been in since 4/20 Target was 25.9% Previous update on 7/2 down 4.81% Currently down 6.55% Dividends Received: $86.10 Been flirting with my stop but hasn't held below it so I continue to hold. Earnings coming on 7/21 before market open. No other significant news. LOW Been in since 4/21 Target was 35.8% Previous update on 7/2 was up 48.93% Currently up 46.94% Dividends Received: $0 Looks to be some consolidation going on for about 3 weeks now. Not making any signficiant moves either way. Just continuing to monitor this one, which is still way above my target. MCD Been in since 5/14 Target was 26.28% Previous update on 7/2 up 8.51% Currently up 7.55% Dividends Received: $72.50 Dropped below the 50MA yesterday and holding under it for now. 200MA is descending at could act as some resistance if it starts to go up. Looks potentially like a wedge forming so hopefully the breakthrough is to the upside. Account Value: $108,852.27 - Up from $108,414.94 last update Cash: $38,885.18 (35.9%) - Less than 1/10th of a percentage point down from last update of 35.9% cash
Thinking about getting out of INTC today. It's far lagging behind it's sector and appears to just be dead weight at this point.
