I'm sorry about your wife, ddebrazza.

I continue to assert there is a lot to be learned about the mindset of the average trader from these sort of discussions.

Im so sorry to hear that ddbrazza! :(

If or when you are ready, could you share more details on what happened?

A friend of my wife, her husband died two weeks after the vaccine. Whether or not it was directly responsible is difficult to say, but we dont have to hide from these events, it happens.

Still I need to be firm on this, Republicans in ICU's are dying in huge numbers vs Democrats and it all comes down to vaccine hesitation and bad information.

this thread is turning a little too political for my taste, but, anyway, i'm a libertarian and got my booster shot yesterday. my belief is that the authors of studies can twist data to show whatever outcome they prefer to convince people to believe. last time i checked a person's political party is not indicated on their medical records or death certificates and if even if they were hipaa laws would not allow that data to be released. that being said i do not believe any data showing more of this party or that dying of covid.

Sure. Her and I were both very much supporters of the vaccine and wanted to do our part. We both got fully vaccinated shortly after the shots became available to our age group.

She had Crohn's disease but otherwise was healthy. Her Crohn's was being managed by a medication called Stelera and during flare-ups she would take a steroid.

When the shots first became available, they did not have really any screening/ restrictions on who should/shouldnt take the vaccine and what medications, if any would cause a reaction.

NOW, we know that steroids and other medications (including Stelera) can lead to complications.

She first developed what doctors were calling "reactive arthritis," which basically her entire body swelling up and hurting. 33 days after receiving the 2nd vaccine, she did not wake up. Her organs failed in the middle of the night and I woke up next to a dead woman.

I am not Anti-Vax, I am Anti-Mandate. Healthcare decisions should always be made on a personal and individualized basis, imo. Had her employment not been contingent on taking this vaccine, she would likely be alive today as she did not want to get the vaccine (she had just recently given birth to our son)

Whelp, here we go again... New COVID strain has now officially been discovered here in the US (officially) as of today. I don't have any sources to post on this in here as I'm admittedly kind of on the go here and only have just a very short few minutes on. But, it appears this very first official US case came somewhere out of Cali from what I heard earlier. The name is Omicron btw. Looks like from the initial reports I had heard earlier today with nothing concrete to back it up, was that this first US case did not have the booster vaccine...so I guess if we're trying to look at this with a glass half full so-to-speak, is that I guess we still do not know how this new strain will effect those who have the booster shot. We shall see soon. Hoping for the best on this front honestly because I was reeeeeally hoping we could finally put this COVID pandemic in the rear view once and for all in 2022. But, now, I'm not so sure on those hopes... :(

Meanwhile, is it just me, but with today's breaking news of that first Omicron case in the US, it almost has that Feb. 2020 feel to it (or at least does a bit for me) lol. That was really evident with today's large market reversal off its early AM highs today. Almost as if to say that all of the great progress we've made since then with the vaccines and such during this time has all just been flushed down the tub if you will.

Not that I actually feel that way. I'm just saying I think that's what the overall mood among a large number of people might be feeling now maybe.

I do think though that we're in so much better place now than we were back in Feb. of 2020. Back then things were so unknown, no vaccines, and large #'s of people were perishing globally everyday, it was scary. I don't think (or so I hope) we're not going to be in that same predicament again if you will. Still a ton of unknowns about this latest strain. Hopefully it won't be anything nearly as bad as the very initial COVID wave was last year. Keeping my fingers crossed on that front! But, kinda of a somber mood I think knowing that the first case was officially discovered in the US today, which basically means it'll likely be spreading nationwide and globally most likely. But, I think the key takeaway for now at least is that we shouldn't be jumping into too many conclusions about this new strain (yet). For now, we'll have to wait and see just how much an effect is has on those who actually has the booster, et al.

Coke, whisky, weed n hookers and 2 packs of smokes a day seems to work just fine. I caught it a few weeks ago and it was like a mild flu. Still haven't took the jab, to each his own. Enjoyed reading this thread though, took another trip on the couch.
