i see that PLTR has now significantly recovered from the HIT-JOB that was put out there in the media on Friday. Classic manipulation by short sellers and traders.....along with massive AI Program Trading....no doubt.

As a result I now have a good gain so far today.

Another day of NOTHING going on.....I love it.

As time goes by the financial media is being taken over by political coverage. Most of the content that I now see day to day is simply the same...."STUFF"....that is obsessively covered in all the media sites.....politics, politics, and politics. AND....the vast majority of it is......MEANINGLESS....to investing.

I am now off to get my FLUE shot......than off to lunch....than off to do the monthly grocery shopping. A hard day in the life of a....long term investor.

One quick post....HD.....down by about $7....a bit over 1% today. I can not see any reason why. This must be in....sympathy....with something affecting some other company. Or perhaps some AI Trading Program picked up this headline.

    SHUTTERS DOWN
Home Depot confirms all 2,000 stores to close for 24 hours in weeks – with more shutdowns scheduled

HOME Depot has confirmed it will shut down all 2,000 of its stores for 24 hours in the coming weeks - and more closures are scheduled.

RELAX.....it is nothing more than closing for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

OK....lets talk about media.....BS. The story today being trumpeted all over the media about AMD:

AMD stock rockets higher on multibillion-dollar OpenAI deal

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/amd-...ultibillion-dollar-openai-deal-125503782.html

The deal is being TOUTED as....a significant alignment.....creating shareholder value.....etc, etc, etc...by the media and the stock is up by as much as 36% in a single day......A LANDMARK DEAL FOR AN NVDA RIVAL.

NOW....lets go back a week or two when NVDA did a deal with just about the same terms but DOUBLE the investment and stake is OpenAI. What was the obsessive media line for at least three days:

This is a circular deal.....investors are concerned that they are just paying to get them to use their chips......they are giving them the money to turn around and buy their chips........investors dont know what to think....etc, etc, etc.

So today with AMD....it is the greatest deal in the world and the coverage drives the stock to the moon. A few weeks ago for NVDA........ suspicious negativity and fear-mongering as a circular deal with no benefit.....something that should be investigated.

    INSANITY and BS.

Not just FOLLY in trying to predict the FED.....but simply IRRELEVANT. There is absolutely ZERO relevance in anything the FED does for long term investors. Just short term NOISE.

Hey BigBear....let us know when you hear something about this board.

Be sure to ask about why people can no longer join this site as members. That is the critical issue.....if people can not join..... we will slowly have NO posters and No content. There will be no interaction.

When that happens I will probably just....... RETIRE...... from posting anywhere. It is not worth the time and effort......and not necessary to managing my own money.

I will continue to post here.....for now.

Well...I started the week with a small gain in my stocks. BUT...a loss to the SP500 today by....0.24%.

I will accept any gain....so...it is a good think.

    hi W,

sorry unfortunately i’ve not heard back from Gil since the other month… i have informed him of the situation here at the board a number of times now, and even asked him (almost in a demanding way) to check in here with a quick post update for the community to see because i feel this community deserves some answers and the direction of the future of this forum, especially since he is the head honcho of this site. but i have not heard anything new…

i’d like to say that things will remain in place here for the foreseeable future and that things will be just fine but the honest brutal truth here is that i really just don’t know.

it’s a bit disconcerting imho because i feel like this community deserves an active admin who is motivated to grow this place. but that unfortunately is nonexistent here or has been for a long while now.

i don’t mean to be the debbie downer in the room here but it is what it is. this site is currently running on an active admin and there’s really nothing anyone can do about it until he’s chimed back in here. which is really anyone’s guess when that will be.. i’m still hopeful it will happen eventually.

i really wish i had more promising news to share with you here. but it’s still status quo from the last update i had shared from last month.

i will try once again to reach out to him and see what happens. though i can’t say i’m feeling all too optimistic though.

also i sure hope you will never retire from posting W. it will be an extremely sad day for me personally which i think i speak for most of the readers here as well. here’s to many more years of your awesome posts to come wherever that may be.

you’re the best W! nobody can ever replace you. you are truly one of a kind. you’re the greatest poster i’ve ever run across in my 25 years of online communities tbh. dead serious here.

thx so much for all you do for this seriously cannot be said enough!! :)

I like this little article and the market that it is describing. A.....FUNDAMENTAL.....bull market. I LOVE a good slow-motion "melt up".

    I am not really a fan of...."tuna-melt". But a good toasted cheese....YES.

It is fun to see all these Wall Street types now jumping on board.

hey wis - good to see you checking in here.

yeah idk. i think gil currently has bigger fish to fry with his gaming community. hence why he’s not on here much at all anymore.

i can totally understand if he’s swamped with all of that, but if he truly can’t dedicate some time for this community here anymore, then it may be time for him to pass the baton to someone more motivating and willing to run and grow this community. i would personally put W in that category tbh.

as of now though this site is and has been effectively flying without a pilot. which frankly is kind of unsettling if you ask me. it is what it is though…

No....I have ZERO interest in running or managing or anything else with a site like this.

Personally I dont even mind the site running without a pilot....I just want people to be able to sign up as new members and hopefully post.

HERE is the market open today.

Stocks rise as traders await more progress on ending shutdown

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/10/06/stock-market-today-live-updates.html

Just about the entire article is politics....the shut-down. fortunately the actual markets simply....DONT CARE. That means we are going to enjoy another day with NO big events or drama. Simply a NORMAL market day.

A few early earninga rea starting to come in....CONSTELLATION BRANDs.....had a good beat.

I have seen a good number of these DOT-COM CRASH articles lately. It seems to be a bit of a FAD in the media. I guess they are stretching for topics to fear-monger so they are dusting off this old.....ridiculous....content to try to get some clicks.

Dot-Com Fears Rise With Tech Stocks Seeing $100 Billion Swings

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/dot-com-fears-rise-tech-110500690.html

My view....the people pushing this "CRAP" are either too young to have actually lived and invested in the DOT-COM era......and/or.....it is simply fear mongering.

I was very much an investor through the 1990's and to the peak of the DOT-COM crash. There are NO SIMILARITIES right now in the slightest to what was going on than.

In the dot-com BOOM......the markets went insane for any new company that has a dot-com name. The vast majority of these so called companies were nothing more than a web-site. These were illusory companies that investors piled into as a result of the massive publicity about the internet and business.

Investors and speculators were throwing money at anything and everything with a DOT-COM name. It was all basically a big DELUSION. Of course there were REAL companies like MSFT and CSCO and many others. BUT....the feeding frenzy to get into ANY dot-com company created a mass psychosis....people throwing money at nothing.

THE MARKET TODAY IS NOTHING....like what was going on in that era....it was a true delusional bubble.

In addition helping to drive it all was the....DAY TRADING FRENZY....that was going on at the same time. EVERYONE was being told that they could make money day trading and screw their regular job. I remember I had a plumber come to my business one day and we got to talking about the markets.....he and his wife were both day-trading.

That era in the mid to late 1990's was an AWAKENING in regular people to markets and stocks.....and not in a good way for many people.

Another HUGE difference between thd dot-com era and now is the focus on and recognition of long term investing now. Back in the 1990's.....I remember how as a long term investor posting on message boards I was constantly attacked as being a MORON.

NOW....compared to than....there is a huge recognition of the worth of being a long term investor. The mind set of investors now is TOTALLY different than in the 1990's.
