WXYZ , were you living in Seattle at the time ? I know that as a Seattleite, MSFT was in most local investor portfolio's , to one degree or another, and I concur, those splits WERE LIFE CHANGING !!! It was the first time I remember thinking , WOOW , This could be HUGE , and for a lot of people in Seattle it was. Back then most of us knew someone that worked at Microsoft. And a little bit of Seattle History, Since when it was starting up bonusses etc. were paid in Microsoft stock, and there were a lot of people that all of a sudden were moving to nicer neighborhoods. Buying new car's etc. We used to call them the "Microsoft Millionaire's"
Keep in mind Strathmore....I dont know a single person in my life or on the perimeter of my life that did what we did in business or investing. A very RARE thing. For that to happen to anyone there has to be a large amount of....LUCK. At any of the critical turning points we faced in our earlier life it could have gone down a very different path. BUT.......looking back at College, sports, music, investing, business.....success happened in spite of not being the smartest or the most talented.
YES oldmanram I lived in Redmond from 1990 to about 2001. Before that I lived in Tacoma and than Gig Harbor. I lived in Washington state from 1968 to about 2000/2001.
I know what you mean about MSFT millionaires. When I lived in that CEO neighborhood there was a family two houses down from us where the father....had a Microsoft employee number under 100. They had insane money by the late 1990's....even though he was not a super high level guy at the company. LOL...we bought a lake cabin......they bought an entire lake and resort...just for their family. CRAZY STUFF. Living there gave me great awareness of SBUX NKE COST MSFT HD And probably some others i am not thinking of right now.
