AND....we are now CLOSED. What a KILLER day in the markets. Dow leaps 900 points fueled by earnings, hopes for Hormuz Strait deal https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/03/stock-market-today-live-updates.html
Indeed. That is true of any moderated site. When people read something they don't agree with, it makes them angry. This is almost universal. Not being like this is one of the reasons I respect WXYZ so much. I know it pissed him off when I posted that nVidia is washed up, last year. He never said a thing. He just continued to long hold. That's why he is so successful. He takes it all in, makes his decisions, and moves on. Exemplary. Posting something negative about nVidia in the stocks section really pissed off RTN, BigBear, and one other I will not name. They really took offense. For many months, every one of my posts was followed with RTN posting disagreement. To be fair, he did agree with a few of my posts, on rare occasion. He graded my posts like he thought he was my teacher. lol Thanks for the help, RTN. Don't shrug this off. I had someone threaten violence when I posted that I purchased Tesla in 2016. It's really important to people that others think as they do and they go mental when this is not the case. Anyone who has read even one of my posts knows that I'm going to upset a lot of people. Not many people can be dispassionate about anything. Not many people have the intellect to understand objectivity is key to successful investing. That's why I spend most of my time on Lemmy. Lemmy is a sort of open source version of Reddit. It's complex in that you have to join a server and messages propagate between servers and clients but not all servers carry all channels. It's quite a bit like Discord, in this respect. Lemmy is also dying but there are no moderators to delete things. It's the old west but I've never seen the sort of personal attacks that regularly occur on every moderated site. I have no interest in posting on a moderated site again. The Lemmy group started as some ROCm development pals. That's why I joined. We have some surprising people. I can't share detail but I have had insights and previews of future products from nVidia, AMD, and Google that I would not have without that group. On the other hand, those guys could care less about 90% of the stuff I follow. I don't join a group for reassurance. My mission is to constantly forage for new ideas. Recently, I've also made an attempt to give something back. Best wishes to all of you, wherever you go. I'm going to stay here with RG. We can post once a month to test if the site is still up. lol!
A HUGE gain for me today in my account...in spite of COST and AMZN being red. I also racked up a big beat on the SP500 today by.....1.42%. AND....my year to date for my entire portfolio has now JUMPED to......+1..43%. TO INFINITY AND BEYOND.
AMAZING.....SPCX kills it (relatively) on their first earnings report. SpaceX revenue jumps 92% in first earnings report since IPO https://www.cnbc.com/2026/08/04/spacex-spcx-earnings-live-updates-q2-2026.html ....."SpaceX reported better-than-expected revenue for the second quarter in the company’s first earnings report since its record IPO in June. Here’s how the company did compared with analysts’ estimates, according to LSEG Revenue: $7.81 billion vs. $6.93 billion expected Loss per share: Loss of 9 cents. That’s not comparable to the average analyst estimate of a loss of 26 cents. Revenue jumped 92% from $4.1 billion a year earlier, SpaceX said in a statement on Tuesday."..... Of course they are still down by about 5%....after hours.
SPCX.....a BEAT in every category: ....."Here’s how SpaceX performed in its three segments: Space: $962 million vs. $835 million expected, according to StreetAccount Connectivity: $4.29 billion vs. $3.83 billion expected, according to StreetAccount AI: $2.56 billion vs. $2.18 billion expected, according to StreetAccount"......
I dont own AMD....but many do. A very nice earnings BEAT.....but as is often typical....no one cares. AMD tops Q2 earnings estimates and provides strong outlook, but leaves investors unimpressed https://finance.yahoo.com/technolog...t-leaves-investors-unimpressed-110000620.html
I did some time ago. I know Cy (bigbear) for ages. It will be a pitty if this site does not last. Sites like this aren´t popular anymore, what is sad. Well people change, tastes change and somehow is normal that people gain interest in new aproaches.
RTN, you've been handled. Now you are spending your life energy trying to be annoying. That is a purely negative pursuit. Perhaps you consider acting this way a win? Have you considered sharing some investing insights with the group? It might be interesting to read your investing ideas. What have you found that works? What have you found that doesn't work? If you're worried about me acting like a d-bag and criticizing everything you write, there is no need. My posting record for the last 9 years shows I'm way above this. I will appreciate and respect your ideas, just as I do everyone else's. I am not at war with you, despite you being at war with me. I'm trying to encourage you to participate in a civil discussion, even now when we stand on the ashes of a dead investing site.
