TSLA will correct hard within 2 years this is insane https://tradetavern.com/post/113bb8bb/tsla-longdated-put-options-will-print-and-t
From my perspective, Giga Berlin is not a well organized project. They are currently under a new shutdown order while they scrape together money for a failure bond. Apparently, they need to file a roughly $100m bond with the city to pay for demo and cleanup in the event the build fails, goes bankrupt, etc. Meanwhile, texas seems to be building at an amazing pace, perhaps not that much slower than the chinese. This is going to be an epic facility. Shanghai is moving along at a chinese pace of construction. China have proven themselves to be world beaters.
We can all see that Lombard Street in San Francisco was designed by a civil engineer who didn't have the balls to shit on his boss's desk, when he quit. It's a novelty piece of civic engineering, to be sure. How then, does Tesla's FSD beta handle Lombard Street? Surprisingly well.
Another antidotal post. My phone tells me that 76ish% of my time is spent on entertainment. (Youtube) its hrs to minutes for what it considers entertainment apps. Thing is most my (entertainment) time is spent watching market investing stuff....99% tsla. 1% charting or macro economics or this forum. in that time spent, i would say 90% adds i see are for Volkswagen, a Subaru tree hugger commercial, GM hummer or mustang ev.... Targeted adds? But again, tsla spends zero in adds and had at least a two month wait list according to someone still waiting on their order. its just a testimony to what this thread has been saying. Ice is in trouble.
Elon confirmed this morning (tweet) that other automakers are using tesla superchargers. He mentioned this use is "low key" and did not cite specific manufacturers. This is the most significant news since battery day.
I find it unusual that TSLA is now on the S&P 500 the large Blue Chip Big Cap Index and the share price is retreating. Maybe it's year end related and come 2021 it will see the price move north to $700 + fyi, Small cap $IDEX - EV Conference Video Presentation with CEO Mr. Alf Poor https://benzinga.wistia.com/medias/z527xepea5
Index funds purchased shares before the Index inclusion. So did speculators. By mid January, we should start to see what the future trading behavior will look like. At least, a little.
I've long dismissed hydrogen energy storage. I don't even entertain the idea of what would happen if it gets popular. It doesn't exist, in my world. Solid state batteries, however, are much more promising. SSB is the only technology that is a threat to Tesla. Even there, we have no way to know if Tesla is working on it. I know they have a ton of battery tech they haven't shared with the world. They only expose a small amount of technology. Still, if VW can produce a viable SSB at volume, that will be a huge blow to Tesla. It's my only concern about Tesla, right now. Also, let's keep in mind that when someone invents something, they do not have a consumer ready product. Doing stuff in the lab is easy. Making million of those things per year is hard. The actual battery chemistry is not the most difficult thing in making an electric car or even a battery. I give QuantumScape a 15% chance of succeeding and a 5% chance of succeeding on a level that impacts the BEV market. Tesla is on the cusp of dramatically reducing materials, weight, complexity, and cost. They are going to be damn tough to beat.
BTW, I have zero concerns about Apple making a car. It will be only a bit more expensive than the rest of the industry and will have to use Apple charging stations with expensive power. Over time, updates will make the car progressively slower. Obviously, I'm kidding but I'm serious about not being the least bit worried about Apple. It doesn't matter how big or powerful they are. They have a very tall mountain to climb. They might do it but I place the odds of Apple succeeding with their automobile program, long term, at less than 1%.
AND.....the EV business is TOTALLY outside of their competence zone. They have ABSOLUTELY no experience in anything to do with manufacturing automobiles. As one article said: "One of the key concerns seems to be the unappealing combination of low margins and heavy capital investments that are a trademark in the automobile sector." Not to mention.....the total lack of management experience running a HEAVY manufacturing company.
So, Tesla entered the S&P 500 index recently, and has also becomes the first rank holder in terms of giving the best yearly return for 2020 among S&P 500 stocks https://fknol.com//list/best-performing/s&p-500-stocks.php though Moderna still beats Tesla in the best performing NASDAQ 100 stocks list by around 20%. https://fknol.com/list/best-performing/nasdaq-stocks.php
Sandy Munro mentioned he gets a lot of calls from analysts, these days. He politely said they are trying to not look like imbeciles, the way they used to. I don't believe any successful investor in the last 20 years has followed the advice of any trading house analyst. This is a group of people who have specialized in being wrong, to the point of making it legitimate to question if they are trying to mislead people? In some cases, I do believe they have nefarious motives. Mostly, however, I believe they are a group of morons with the very occasional superstar.
