I don't hold losing positions. To easy to sell and pay the gains and wait for a better entry. I like Tesla and want to hold for the split, but for now it's been face tattooed and kicked out with the peasants.
Banking/finance. Boys dressed up like girls with tattoos, piercings and confused about their sexuality are undesirables in my industry.
Where I am from, Western Canada, there was nobody with strange colored hair, visible tattoos, or weird haircuts with a job. Even a guy with an earring would be asked to remove it at work. That went on well into the 2000s (no idea when it ended or if it has). I worked in Toronto in 90/91. The first time I went for lunch with some guys from work, we were served by a guy with an orange mohawk with some kind of metal rod in his cheek. It might have been Swiss Chalet but my memory is vague. The other guys had absolutely no response to it. I rolled with it while thinking, "WTF?" Some of that stuff has got to hurt. lol! It should not matter what a person looks like. I try to be inclusive. It does have an impact on success but it shouldn't.
Teslarati just announced that Panasonic has sent engineering sample 4680 cells to Tesla. Apparently, they have already started mass production in Japan with US production to follow. This is big news, IMO. Tesla is building Y with 4680 structural packs. I expect they will have no problem converting all production to 4680 structural packs, slowly as cell availability allows. This is another major efficiency step. Chinese semi-solid state batteries appear to be a silver bullet for Nio and Neta. They are air cooled so they must possess ultra-low internal resistance. A great deal of scepticism is needed when considering new battery platforms but I am hopeful. Even if China can crank out some long range EVs at affordable prices, it will take considerable time to make much inroads into European and American markets. Elsewhere in the world, cost is all that matters so I'm sure they will do OK. They are reported to be ramping manufacturing in China aggressively.
Regarding tattoos, unless they are grotesque or offensive, I have no issues with them, but I will say this: Those who have a lot of them tend to be a bit more impulsive in other areas. As to whether that makes them less suitable for a certain type of job, well, that's a case by case basis. There are plenty of straight laced unmarked people out there who are lazy, willfully ignorant, asswipes (even in the banking industry).
Do you regret selling so quickly, now that you're spreading French's yellow on your white bread in the passenger seat of a Chevy Spark? I hope this question doesn't come across as any sort of criticism. It was not intended to be. I'm trying to learn what I can about the mindset of a day trader.
For posterity. #FORDTIP Ford did not trade on Memorial day (when I posted this) but opened Tuesday, May 31 at $13.45. We will see what happens in 6 months time.
Until the current administration took the reigns I was a die hard investor. Rarely sold other than a rebalance or such. But we now live in times of the unknown. I don't hold losing positions. It's easier to sell and rebuy at a discount. I don't regret selling anytime capital gains are involved.
I don't understand the 10% salary staff layoff and the 10% wage staff hire. Perhaps Elon is trying to move some staff to wage earnings? One of the things I really liked about Tesla is they did not engage in macro economic speculation, in the past. Economic predictions is something new. They just kept their heads down and worked hard. That is how you succeed. It doesn't matter how smart you are, it is extremely difficult to predict most macro economic factors.
For what it's worth, I feel the odds of that move returning to profitability in the next few months are high. I would be comfortable owning Tesla at this entry point. Q2 results are expected to be flat, best case. Q3 results are expected to be epic. They should be at 1.5M unit annualized production rate. By the end of the year, they should be out at 1.75M units of annualized production (looking forward, not backward). If they can scale at that pace, they will be half as big as Ford by the end of the year. We are at mid year, now. On the other hand, Elon said "this year for sure" for full self driving but we are already at June with no FSD and there seems to be an issue with spontaneous breaking. The NHTSA is investigating. Can you imagine? What makes them think they are remotely qualified to investigate an issue with artificial intelligence. lol! It's going to be interesting.
