Congratulations on the nice price jump, zukodany.

    I was wrong, also.

Cash on hand now at $5.3B. Or, as Breitbart reports, complete bankruptcy.

[edit: As far as I know, the price will be dynamic until tomorrow morning but most pools close in the evening (7~8pm) and open a couple of hours before market tomorrow. Opening price will be the price of the last trade before the market opens. We will know the opening price when the markets open tomorrow.

Most retail investors can trade after hours, these days. I can.

If you want to sell into this, call your brokerage. There is probably a way.]

Well I’m just learning as I go so not looking to sell, I do have faith in the company as I’m an owner of a 2016 model S and loving it. my wife told me to buy more stock when the price went down to almost $200, I bought when it was at 245 a few weeks before. Anywho, great times to own Tesla and I’m a believer!
    Thank you for the updates!!

For those who are interested in the Q3 earnings call or if you just enjoy 70s funk hold music, the call can be accessed here.

    18 minutes....

While everyone fixates on GF3, I think far more interesting questions are:

    - What is happening with the solar ramp at GF2?

    - What is happening with the energy storage ramp?

    - How quickly can the Hibar acquisition be integrated and start supplying production equipment?

    - Is Tesla ready to produce an in-house 2070 cell?

Remember the old days when you were trying to squeeze some extra HP from your Mustang, you would get better airfilters, sparkplugs, exhaust system.

This is the future now:

"I forgot to mention, we’re also expecting there’s going to be an over-the-air improvement that will improve the power of the Model S, X, and 3. That’s, by the way, coming in a few weeks. It should be in the order of 5% power improvement due to improved firmware."

We know there are multiple model Y driving around the bay area, right now. There were multiple Y being tested on the Utah salt flats early this summer.

I think "production" is a soft word. I suspect they mean producing cars for the public.

They seem to have a release process of: prototype(s) -> release candidate -> small internal run (perhaps 12 cars) -> large internal run (perhaps 200 cars) -> small external run (on the order of 1000 cars) -> open the flood gates

It continues to appear Tesla will tool up for mass Model Y production soon. They have already indicated this will be a major financial hit and it will come in Q1.

I like that they are slowing down the pipeline a bit. The more time they spend to get the product and production right, the more efficient the release process will be. They already have more model 3 orders than they can handle so rushing would be all risk and no gain.

Similar confusion exists around full self driving. When Elon tells us it will be feature complete this year, a lot of people seem to think that means cars will be driving themselves around without passengers by Christmas.

Elon clarified what feature complete means in the call, yesterday. Feature complete means a car could drive from someone's home to their place of work with a reasonable chance of making the trip without human intervention.

There is also some confusion regarding whether Elon means the underlying technology pieces will be in place or if it will be released publicly. These are two different things.

The production line is officially operating and trial production has begun.

Pics are now streaming out of many dozens of cars in a row coming down the production line, not just the initial one or two at a time.

Being an American patriot and advocate of individual freedom, I'll never buy a Tesla or Tesla stock.

For me it is more a matter of survival. My community is on the list for potentially turning off the power because of fire threats caused by dumbasses that the run this state. So, if I have an uncharged electric car with no way to charge the battery, it's over Johnny. I'm fried.

On the weekly chart, I don't see much resistance on this one up until ~$380. That's still a long way off though, and a lot can happen before it gets there.

wish I invested as much into tsla (which I believed in much more than) amzn which was more of “smart thing” to do according to all those I consulted with when I did 3 months ago (bought 5 tsla at 245 ea and it was going downhill, at which point my wife was the only one that told me to buy more, then bought 2 amzn at 1750, and later on 2 amzn at 1713)

As a 100 year old auto maker that is not innovating, Tesla is 5x over valued.

As a startup that is out-innovating the rest of the industry while it out-scales the industry, Tesla remains a bargain.

I bought my first tranche in 2016. Those shares have almost doubled in value. I've since picked up more on two different occasions. Some, earlier this year.

Even at the gains we've seen, Tesla has not been the best company for my wife and I to partner with. That's been an interesting re-learning experience. We have some REITs that have distributed a lot of money during that time and, when you consider the compounding effect, have outperformed Tesla in our portfolio, even at the current price.

Even if Tesla hits $350 by the end of the year, it will not be our best performer.

During the time between 2016 and today, we've used cashflow from our business and distributing (non-Tesla) stock to goose up our Tesla shares (and almost all other holdings) during periods of low valuation.

The point being, distributing stocks bring power to a portfolio that growth stocks do not have, above the gains they make. That's why our Tesla holdings remain small compared to the scale of our portfolio, despite my steadfast belief in the company.

Studying the stream of media over the last several years has made it effortless to be a Tesla long during a period of relentless media negativity.

    Consider the talking points:
    - out of cash
    - low demand
    - labor problems
    - pay checks bouncing
    - Elon is a fraud
    - etc.

    It's been endless.

Most interesting has been the pattern of a hit piece being released by one outlet, and then other negative articles of the same theme being released from several other outlets within a short period of time. Somebody has a media powered feces canon.

Right now, Tesla has the highest market cap of all US automanufactuers, they are cranking out cars at a rate of about 400K per year and will probably close 2019 at the 450K per year production rate.

Meanwhile, they are shipping higher margin energy storage products at a rate of about 2.5GW/year.

Returning to my thesis: A long term investor cannot make money following trends evangalized by the media.

In case there is any question as to my position:

I don't consider Tesla is successful because it has a high market cap. I consider Tesla successful because they are executing a brilliant business strategy with: hyper scaling production, relentless cost optimization, innovation, and finishing everything they start. The market cap follows these things. These things do not follow the market cap.

I can relate to everything that you say. Of course, everything looks very positive now since the tsla stock is on the rise. But as you mentioned, there is a tremendous amount of bias against Elon and the company, whether justified or not. That will never go away.
The only thing we can do is sit back and watch as history unfolds and learn from it in the process
