Here is a hot take for anybody thinking that Elon buying TWTR will make any sort of difference. It will not.
It is positive comments made after weekend buy-out talks, accompanied by quite a few share holders backing Musk on this deal. I don't know if Musk could win a takeover vote but perhaps we will learn this answer in the near future.
You're a mod so you can edit my posts as you see fit but I'm going to quote this anyway, for posterity. lol!
As a Twitter shareholder (twice...bought in pre-IPO and sold for a very modest profit, then rebought between 14-19) I'm pretty disappointed in this deal. Stock was over 70 just in the past year; they should have gotten more for it.
I think complaining about massive tax burdens is one of the things non-investors hate about us, rolexian.
What I was annoyed at is that it is taken out of my hands; instead of letting me sell at the time to maximize my profit. But overall fair enough; edited my post...
You came to the wrong guy for an argument. You have my complete sympathy. I've been where you are. I apologize if I came off as mocking you. That was not the intent. I'm just saying, it is a first world problem. lol! "These huge capital gains are screwing me over!"
Of course, it is absolutely a first-world problem! But it's also a first-world problem complaining that Twitter's board only got $54/share, and not 75+...
Starting to back-peddle? Was this just one big publicity stunt? Elon Musk 'Still Committed' to Twitter Deal After Putting Proposed Acquisition on Temporary Hold Over Fake Account Query MT Newswires Twitter's (TWTR) proposed acquisition by billionaire Elon Musk is "temporarily on hold" over a query about the number of fake accounts on the platform, but the Tesla (TSLA) chief executive said he is "still committed" to the $44 billion deal.
I think he is heavily levered on his Tesla stock. The wild volatility the last few days may have given him a dose of reality. I highly doubt his trepidation has anything to do with bot accounts.
Elon now saying that the Twitter deal is not going to happen (shocking) because twitter is 90% bots. Obviously an exaggeration, but he wants out of this deal because his offer was way to high to begin with.
I dont think he wants out of the deal. I think he wants a fair valuation based on accurate data regarding Twitter's primary asset, its user-base. If it turns out that Twitter claimed 5% of accounts are Bots or Fake and the real number ends up being closer to 15%, then that makes a significant difference.
Elon Musk indicating that he wants to back out the the TWTR deal because.. /spins wheel something about bots and spam.
