looks like kind of a stormy weekend ahead for us here ... albeit we could use the rain it's been a little on the dry side this week
had a pretty good washout this week due to that tropical system down in the gulf ... and now looks to clearing up right in time for the weekend ... it'll be a hot one out there but hey it's the summer
Lots of well needed rain here also. Cleared out around lunchtime today, off all weekend so it's full steam ahead on the new house project.
Whelp...this is now the strongest hurricane ever to be recorded in the Atlantic basin with maximum sustained winds of 185MPH! The silver lining? The storm actually is expected to lose some of its punch as it approaches the US coast (Florida) but not really by much...
All of these hurricanes lately make me really glad I don't live on a coast. Hope everyone is staying safe and preparing the best they can! Good luck to all who could be affected!
Called up my uncle again this morning ... said he was on his way to Orlando (where he and his wife will be riding out the storm). I hope he didn't stuck in traffic because from what I've been hearing traffic has been an absolute nightmare going north. The storm hasn't really let up much ... maximum sustained winds got downgraded just a smidgen to 175MPH ... still a very powerful Cat 5. Oh, and if that wasn't enough ... there's another storm just behind Irma named "Jose" (Cat 1 as of now) that looks to have its aim on the islands that were already hit by Irma. I feel so terrible for those folks. They can't even get a few days to recover man.
We're not gonna go anywhere. Jus out from from NOAA: Just remember: GRAB= Grass Ribs Ass Beer We have all those except no. 1 Haven't had a good hurricane party since 2004...!!
@OldFart i just saw the latest track ... looks like this beast is headed right towards you guys around the tampa area! stay safe man! also heard there's a chance for this thing to regain cat 5 status again before making landfall...
I'm not worried. I seriously think it may turn later then they're predicting. Pan handle or apalachicola bay, but I'm no expert...
Finally getting a bit of rain after over 2 smoking hot months , fires burning all over B.C. and neighboring states , and causing really poor air quality where i reside. Much worse for those who were evacuated and lost homes. This year is one to remember, very strange . Devastating hurricanes hitting the south of the US and smashing through the Caribean on the way. Unbelievable... another one on the way.
and tomorrow is the 9/11 anniversary ... hopefully no crazy shit there. looks like irma is finally taking the turn north as so many were anticipating ... the keys are getting absolutely annihilated now ... looks like next target is around naples ... then heading up the coast to tampa towards you guys @OldFart
I lived in Largo, Florida on Pinellas county for over 20 years. Moved away 4 years ago. But, I'm very familiar with hurricanes and if this one stays on it's track Tampa is in for a rough ride. Storm surge is going to do the most damage but I also know all along the coast line of Florida and around the cities there are thousands upon thousands mobile homes. Hope they make the bulk of the evacuees. Good luck to all of you in Florida, this is a monster storm. Entire state covered this morning. Unreal...
Damn, this is about the most active hurricane season that I can remember in a really long time. Hurricane Jose looks like it could be making landfall somewhere in the northeast later this week? Then there's a Hurricane Maria that could impact the islands that were already wiped out by Irma and then potentially moving near Florida again??...and then another right behind that one by the name of Lee. What is going on here?
This summer seems to be dragging on for far too long ... I was hoping for some cooler temps and less humidity as we ushered in Autumn last week, but I see we're still hitting the 90s around here and it looks like that is here to stay at least for this upcoming week.
